Monkey Meeks on Roxsbury is a terrible country record. Do not buy it.

Was it described as "northern soul totally unknown, brilliant dancer proven rarity, no one knows it, I've checked all the collectors bla bla" ?

no, i bought it for the label #. I have gotten country records that were described as "northern soul". More frequently people try to pass off hard rock records as soul, it's very annoying.

Well if you bought it for the label you can't blame anyone lol

There are Country and western records on Okeh and Lena Zavaroni recorded on Stax

True, I still would have bought it knowing it was some garbage. Just warning people who see it and think it might be some great obscure and unknown roxsbury label. Also, I was sort of annoyed because I've only ever found soul on the label.

I like BOTH types of music - Country AND Western :ohmy::wicked: :wicked:

no, i either bought it buy-it-now or on musicstack for cheap. those sites only seem to be good for picking up weird label numbers. I have paid a lot for some terrible label numbers before though.

Interesting that the writer is Billy Wade McKnight. I have a pretty good garage 45 by him on the Custom label from Texas. He also cut a dull 45 on the famous International Artists label (13th Floor Elevators, etc label). I think he cut some other stinkers.

yeah, it is that 45 but my copy was a promo that has a different song on the flip, the one pictured in that auction has the same song on both sides.

Sometimes it's all about taking a gamble i saw a Sam Dees I need You demo SSS international 732 for $2

no body bid on it so i bought it only to find it was a double side the song is absolutely feckin awfull

but hey it could have had Lonely for you baby on the other side even though it was a double side it could have been a mislabel

i saw another one about a year later and it sold for £94 and the seller didn't say it was a double sider

i messaged him and asked how he could rip someone off like that but he never got back

at one time you could message the buyers buy not now !

yeah, I recently bought a bunch of jim gilstrap 45s on roxsbury, just as collection #s. But when I got them they actually ended up being really good. Also, one of them is like the longest 45 I've ever seen (maybe 7 1/2 minutes?) which was interesting.
