never caught tonights programme, but heard him say something similar the other night, and what he used to wear - sounded very much like the old 'uniform' from Wigan days. (Blazer with buttons on cuff, Ben Sherman, parallels - remember them - brogues and such like

I think a lot of people not into the soul scene went at sometime and a lot of people who are into the soul scene never went.If you know what i mean :D .

Most disturbing thing to me is........you are admitting to watching it.

Wouldn't give him s***house room myself, but good lady watches it so i have to listen

I was round me Mum's and she had it on and as a huge Slade fan was watching the show and yes, O'grady did say that he used to go to Wigan Casino and dance all night with a change of clothes halfway through. Slade were big Motown and soul fans too and Noddy Holder's fave tune is a soul record and I've been flipping through his Autobiog to find out what it is cos I've forgotten.......

Trouble is, there are some people who think that NS was the only thing ever played at the Casino, but it was obviously part of the circuit for pop bands on tour in the late 60's/early 70's...

...awaits the obvious reply... :shhh:wink.gif

slade probably did play at the casino,it was well known on the heavey rock circuit.A mate of mine(ex casino) said he used to get in free by going in early to clean up Mr m`s after the heavy rock discos about 77/78.

he was on desert island disks where he picked Respect - Aretha Franklin as his all time fave tune. Apparently he's a huge Aretha fan...

 I was there !!! I'd guess it was around 1977/78, we were outside waiting for the Casino to open and they were still playing !!! It delayed the All-nighter opening by at least an hour probably more!

They would not let us in !, Slade had two articulated trucks full of sound gear they had to move before the nighter could start, there was nearly a riot outside then a black Rolls Royce came round the front of the casino with the band in it, Dave Hill ,Noddy were clearly visable and followed by about 100 screaming teenage girls.

Them were the days
