I'm not too sure about this, but from memory the JAP P-Vine "The Deep & Mellow Soul Of Sam Dees" album has most (if not all) of that album on it, plus of course the brilliant, previously unissued "Touch Me With Your Love". CD only though on that so probably not relevant to you? Worth mentioning nontheless, though you'd probably pay as much for the P-Vine CD as you would for an original of TSMGO!!

Picked a sealed copy up on ebay last night and tried to find details of any vinyl re-issue? Cost $16 so even if there is that is not too bad.

Cheers

10 quid for a re-issue is still a bargain - there must be loads of of worn out copies out there ! However, why no CD ? it's been long overdue with various 'contractual' issues ruling it out - so why on vinyl?

I think Kent put out a couple of Sam Dees CD's - think I've got one of them somewhere

Yes they did but not the classic The Show Must Go On the 2 cds comprised of unfinished demo's , worth having though.

As much as I like the Kent CD's - they are only demos and no match for the TSMGO album. Add the non album tracks - Heroin, I'm So Very Glad, Fragile and the Bettye Swann duets and you would have a wonderful CD covering his Atlantic career.

The reissue linked above is probably a bootleg because there's ring wear on the cover. A legit reissue probably wouldn't just copy an LP cover that had ringwear (and at least they could have photoshopped it out, legit or not). I don't think it's been sealed long enough to get ring wear. Someone feel free to correct me on the legitimacy of this pressing.

Maybe it is not a scan of the actual cover Bob - just picked up from the net or another listing maybe? Difficult to scan LP covers on A4 scanners - which is all most people have.

There are still contractual problems over the reissue of Sam's Atlantic catalogue on CD.

Who knows if they will ever be resolved? I certainly don't...

That is true I guess, although I'd imagine if it was reissued someone somewhere would have a pic of that to steal. I have seen crappy boots of soul and psych LPs that had worn looking "new" covers or stamps that were on the copied cover that were just printed on.

I think it's just a borrowed picture, searching for Sam Dees The Show Must Go On on google & the same shot with ringwear turns up all over the show.

that's funny that they borrowed a picture that makes their product look worse than it is
