How smug do I feel today - being able to offer "Wigan Casino" encapsulated in 2.15 seconds of total Northern Soul. The unleashing of that very first blow of the saxophone those who experienced "The Casino" will be catapulted back in time to 1974 - shoulder to shoulder miraculously missing your neighboring dancer and still be able to pull of a spin or back drop!
Al Wilson's - Help Me - was "THE CASINO" @ 3.00am

A 7" Casino-Trip of unparalleled proportions, for those lucky enough to witness it's affect almost 38 years ago.

Gary Sole
Holdin' On
Click the sound-file - a swirling organ and blaring horns lift you up, ready to collide with Gary Sole's "distant" vocal style, the three components fuse into Northern Soul Utopia.
For some it will jet them back to when Dave Raistrick's discovery, that led to every NS DJ in England playing this tune circa 1978? It of course became an instant Northern Soul MONSTER, who's reputation has since, never dimmed.
Today all copies of Dave's "find" have been long swallowed up by the Northern Soul collecting hoover, leaving many of the "newer DJ / Collectors" with a glaring gap in their set and collection. Here's an opportunity to put that right...
Rarely comes to market especially in this near perfect condition.

Harvey Scales And The Seven Seas
Trying To Survive C/w Bump Your Thang
For today's British Rare Soul Dance scene this 45 is just darn perfect for dancefloor appreciation.
Not only incredibly rare but also carrying that fusion of Soul n' Funk so in vogue. Punchy production, punctuated by emotional Soulful lyrics pushed along brass/guitar flowing groove, decorated by a smooth vocal group chorus, the timely instrumental breaks all come together creating a thoroughly infectious record that every soul-dancer would ignite to!
Flipside the Funk is the harder and nearly as compelling. Two strong sides - absolutely perfect for TODAY!

Chubby Checker
You Just Don't Know (what You Do To Me)
Only a few Northern Soul related UK release 45s are held in such high regard they are "stand-alone" pieces of iconic stature.
This offering is exactly that!
No Northern Soulie reading this will need any more words from me or anyone to lift this records status. But you may need reminding the title was never issued in the USA! Which can only offer the West Coast styrene promo or the unique one copy known East-Coast vinyl test press.
That is why, even though this 45 has a needless biro squiggle on label (see scan) we feel the 45s importance in 2011 far outweighs this small flaw.
