https://www.ebay.com/itm/GUITAR-RAY-45-Wreck-My-Life-SHAGG-northern-soul-HEAR-/370573402323

As I enter my sixtieth year I've realised Im getting less tolerant and this has totally wound me up although for Ebay it's nothing new.

A very professional layout with picture and soundclip and to start an "expert" appraisal of this 45's place in rare soul history.

Then I wade through the usual instructions as to how to have a pleasant shopping experience bidding on the seller's "great items" only to find at the end that the record is VG-. although as usual it plays better up to a VG and he has put it in a sleeve.

It's shagged.

Rod, nothing to do with anything really but five maybe six years ago, I found a copy of this in a shop in Dudley!

Always wondered how it ended up there...

Just me or sound clip sounded okay? Is it yours Nev?

Sound clip is quite good

as long as it's from his record

would be fine for DJing

I agree to he could have given the condition etc at the beginning. The scan gives a totally false impression. But having said that it doesn't sound too bad for vg-/vg, I've heard far worse vg+ and ex condition records. It should sell easily me thinks.

good seller, grade seems right if you listen to the clip, not out of line at all, people have definitely bought worse sounding 45s, i don't see the issue, it'll probably hit $500, condition isn't there for me to be interested but there are plenty of others out there who aren't so picky.

his wording of "one of the best soul records ever made" is accurate though.....love it.

Yes I think if VG- had appeared earlier in the ad that would have gone some way to assuage my, and I admit, totally OTT response to this ad.

It's the big build-up to VG- that gets my back up.

And Ernie I have loads of 45s over 40 years old, some of which I've owned for nearly 40 years. They are not in this condition so I expect better and I suspect from your comment you do too.

is it not just sales?

you don't advertise the worst aspect of the sale at the beginning.

at least he is honest and its there in black and white.

Imagine how a car salesman would describe it :D

he wouldn't use the word 'shagg'

more of a '"like making love to a beautiful woman"

last year a young lad put his "My Ex Brother in Law's shite record collection" on Ebay

it got tens of thousands of hits i think ebay might have even crashed under the pressure !To the extent that Ebay removed it

i t is still talked about on forums today not because of the records but the honest and hilarious way he decribed them and him

i think you can still read it here !

It's in the big blue box's the link to Ebay is closed

Got this track on his "Moanin' in the Moonlight" album on Marble Arch. Didn't even realise it was the same.

Neither did I at first, one of those tracks you think there is something familiar about it. Writing credits of Chester Burnett made the penny drop.....

Well the listing looks pretty decent to me, it does have quite abit of text but I think it's just because the guy wants to give complete information about the records. The text is also nicely spread out and layed out. Which brings me to one of my pet peeves: guys whose listing is just a solid block of text, more often all caps than not, and then after you win the auction they charge you like £30 for shipping, and then get insulted for not reading everything carefully.*

* before anyone asks I do see the irony in complaining about latge chunks of text by typing a block of text but hey...
