Guest Jamie Posted November 23, 2005 Posted November 23, 2005 Philly City Ronnie any day, though nothing to do with 'the scene', just a favourite. Pah! I'll raise ya! Best Friend Around - So Good To Know - Lonnie Knocks the spots of owt, that does Jamie
Pete S Posted November 23, 2005 Posted November 23, 2005 I used to like Brainstorm - Loving is really my game 12" also Like Her 12" New York City (Miroslav Vitous) 12" only
Guest Matt Male Posted November 23, 2005 Posted November 23, 2005 I agree Brainstorm, the 7" just starts to get going then ends..
Guest Jamie Posted November 23, 2005 Posted November 23, 2005 I used to like Brainstorm - Loving is really my game 12" also Like Her 12" New York City (Miroslav Vitous) 12" only I think I've still got the Brainstorm one somewhere, on Tabu wasn't it? I also bought a Miroslav Vitous album blind and it was some kind of contemporary Jazz crock 'o sh!t that was basically 'noise' for 30 minutes Jamie
Simon M Posted November 23, 2005 Author Posted November 23, 2005 Four Flights " All I want is you " sounds nicer on 12 too .. not got the Brainstorm on 12 , will try to here it !!

Guest Posted November 23, 2005 Posted November 23, 2005 If it's the best 12" and depending what scene I guess "Vincent Montana Jnr & The Philly Sound Orchestra featuring William Smoke Howard - That's What Love Does" , superb tune

Simon M Posted November 23, 2005 Author Posted November 23, 2005 If it's the best 12" and depending what scene I guess "Vincent Montana Jnr & The Philly Sound Orchestra featuring William Smoke Howard - That's What Love Does" , superb tune Maybe the 12" of 2005 with the old Ebonies " Im so glad Im me " lead . ...was a big Internet download first though .
Guest Posted November 23, 2005 Posted November 23, 2005 I agree Brainstorm, the 7" just starts to get going then ends.. No the 12 is way too long (by about 4 minutes) the LP version is far better...in fact "wake up and be somebody" off the same LP is far better.... Sigh!!! those Mecca monsters
Guest Jamie Posted November 23, 2005 Posted November 23, 2005 Thought of another nice one: Velvet Hammer ft. Walter Smith - I Can't Believe - Chila Sounds a bit different to the 7" as it's got heavier 'Bass' Jamie
Guest Posted November 23, 2005 Posted November 23, 2005 You will never ever get a divorce after listening to this record - so good ! Wanna` bet....

Simon M Posted November 24, 2005 Author Posted November 24, 2005 Spot on about the Bill Harris ! Beat me to it Was always fond of "Spanish Maiden". Tony Middleton But 15. Am I Cold, Am I Hot - Bill Harris We conclude with a feel good finale record that epitomises the point where 70s end of crossover northern soul meets modern soul and keeps everyone happy. Like the We The People track, the original 7' exchanges hands for £100 - £150 while re-issues satisfy the ever-increasing demand for this gem (which is even harder to find on a US RCA 12'). Written and produced by the extraordinarily talented late, great, Van McCoy it's a pure soul delight. Much like this entire compilation! Compiled by Richard Searling & Ralph Tee

Guest Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 But 15. Am I Cold, Am I Hot - Bill Harris (which is even harder to find on a US RCA 12'). Compiled by Richard Searling & Ralph Tee Maybe the reason it's hard to find is it doesn't exist ? Just because RS has mentioned it in the sleeve notes doesn't mean it exists. This isn't a dig at RS just a fact, on a motown compliation he described a Marvelettes track (Don't make hurting me a habit - I think) as album only. We all make mistakes
