JOE TORQUAY Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 (edited) Baby I Need You c/w I Just Couldn't Say Edwin Starr Scott's On Swingers (s. O. S.) A legendary Detroit PROMO only 45 - paying tribute to Motor City DJ Scott Regan, who's turntable support of Edwin's "(S.O.S.) Stop her On Sight" - contributed hugely to the record becoming a monster hit! This version of course, became a huge Northern Soul favourite during the 70s as a few copies filtered through from Bob Mayes famous vinyl emporium in Detroit. Today looking at it's beauty, wiggling at my desk, as the infectious dance arranged gets to me, i'm thinking this much-admired 45, is surely due for its Northern Soul second-wind. JOE TORQUAY Posted December 28, 2011 Author Posted December 28, 2011 (edited) Rock' N Co. You Live Only Once Killer and incredibly rare version of the Imperial Wonders Solid Foundation Cleveland, Ohio masterpiece. You would think, hey! nothing could trump that incredibly-slick vocal group performance that set the tone for the Blackpool Mecca to lean towards the more "modern" Northern Soul - it was an Highland Room anthem and held dear by those lucky enough to experience the controversial changes the music-policy went through. Think again! This is not only significantly rarer than the Imperial Wonders 45 it is certainly no poor-country-cousin. Listen, and like me you'll be convinced it is a truly fantastic, smooth seamless harmony vocal work, stitched to a strong dance production; and so very hard to find! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 110.00 Cynthia Sheeler I'll Cry Over You Totally sublime and stupidly elusive New Orleans street-level treasure! The JB's label, gave local Crescent City distribution and a platform for so many artists to showcase their talents - but also decades later opened up an Aladdin's Cave for the Rare-Soul curious to dig into. It seems most every record on the label is not only a fine testament to our music but also super-hard to acquire. This example is one of the most-soulful and one of the most difficult to secure. Click the sound file, soak in it's warming emotion and dream of ownership! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 628.00 Frank Eddie Love Has Never Passed Me By Street-level 1978 Miami Florida Soulful Dance, currently enjoying a huge underground appreciation.. Records of this quality need securing in your collection, before their reputation exceeds the perceived value. In recent times this fine example of rare-soulful dance has disappeared from the Northern Soul collecting landscape - we feel this will creep up in value for all the right reasons, for a very long time to come. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 250.00 Edited December 28, 2011 by JOE TORQUAY
JOE TORQUAY Posted December 28, 2011 Author Posted December 28, 2011 (edited) Joey Dee And The Starlighters What Kind Of Love Of This Killer version of the Johnny Nash tune on Groove from the Peppermint Lounge guys who will a penchant for the "Soul" sound. For the British completest it's records like this, that we all missed the first time round it is a chance to fill those gaps. What better way, than a "perfect" Red N' White1962 British Red & White DEMO, retains it's original "birth" sleeve. We know the record scan will have you pulled in - click the sound file and be prepared to be even more impressed. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 59.00 Chuck Henley Broken Heart C/w Standing In The Need Of Love Two truly fabulously soulful sides - two paces but both equally outstanding emotion driven productions. Click the sound file and be prepare to be impressed. Rarely seen for sale and just spilling over with potential for the Rare-Soul and under-played nights, that have ignited value-hikes on records of this calibre. I'd never consider parting with my copy - underlining our belief in this is soon to become a "New Kid" on the Northern Soul block after years of simmering away in the collections of those who seek out the obscure. Listen - spectacular soul - isn't it!! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 389.00 David Coleman Drown My Heart Now, here's a on this wildly individualistic 45 that quite a few DJs including myself are championing at this very moment. Because it is totally different and an absolutely infectious Latin Northern Soul dancer. A magnificent growling vocal is woven into a Hector Rivera arranged horns, giving up totally memorable 60s dance! A couple of listens or dance-to-experiences and you are hooked - demand is growing fast and still far from peaking. Catch it on the "UP" Very very difficult to acquire in fine condition - this copy is Mint minus in every respect. Sorry, this item has already been won!
