Dave Pinch Posted December 29, 2011 Posted December 29, 2011 ????? wot u mean billy, there are issues and demo of both grapevine & grapevine 2000..demo`s are more desirable. do u mean are they proper uk issues and ok to play out type o thing
Spacehopper Posted December 29, 2011 Posted December 29, 2011 i think thats what he means and a debatable issue with different opinions i think.....most would probably not been issued in the uk before so will be uk originals BUT if they have been released before in the us then that is the true original in my opinion for playing out purposes dean

Billywhizz Posted December 29, 2011 Author Posted December 29, 2011 John Anderson's Grapevine label started out bout 1977 I think Richard well richard 76 77 give or take billy
Spacehopper Posted December 29, 2011 Posted December 29, 2011 plenty of people more qualified to talk about grapevine on here than me billy but for instance a friend of mine bought narbay on grapevine as a uk original which it is but it was still released in the 70s when there is a 60s us release...just down to individual promoters and djs when it comes to playing out i suppose other tracks such as betty boo were only released on grapevine as far as i know dean
Steve G Posted December 29, 2011 Posted December 29, 2011 (edited) John Anderson's Grapevine label started out about 1977 I think Richard Yes Richard I remember it well, three releases all at the same time to kick start the label. Then soon after came the Flaming Emeralds which might puzzle some of the younger members on here, but it was a massive record at Wigan in April 77 as I am sure you'll recall. And that explains some of the other releases like Ronnie Love, Judy Street, Happy Cats etc. The red label came later with Brinstone Ingram etc. and I remember John telling me they didn't take off because Elvis died and the RCA presses were stopped and all filled with re-pressing everything they had on Elvis. ANything non Elvis was put on hold. Edited December 29, 2011 by Steve G
Guest DeeJay Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 you could probably play Betty Boo without ruffling any feathers, Grapevine is it's only release, i play the RCA acetate occasionally (Pre release for Grapevine) DJ
Premium Stuff Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 you could probably play Betty Boo without ruffling any feathers, Grapevine is it's only release, i play the RCA acetate occasionally (Pre release for Grapevine) DJ "Say It Isn't So" has had other vinyl releases - 45 LP - and is on CD of course - but it's true to say that Grapevine was it's first vinyl release. Cheers Richard
Steve Plumb Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 Here's a link to all the previously unreleased Grapevine 2000 45's of which 'many' would fit the bill as being able to be played out at OVO venues? https://www.soulmusic.co.uk/Grapevine_article.htm Cheers Steve
