Guest allnightandy Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 What is the most you have ever paid for a record or what did you have to trade/swap in order to obtain this gem ? Mine is a bit boring as it's only a £50 sound It was The Poppies There's a pain in my heart Epic promo I do have much better stuff but didn't pay much for them
Pete S Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 Think it was Mr Lucky 'I was born to love you'. Paid £800, sold for four times that a week later. But that was just to make some money, can't stand the record. Most I paid for one for myself was probably £500 for Johnnie Mae Matthews 'I have no choice'. Which I also sold a few weeks later. Can't and never have been able to afford expensive records but then again, have only ever really collected British and there aren't that many mega many items there.
Guest sharmo 1 Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 Careful chaps you never know if either the inland revenue or wives may have a peep at this site regards inspecter gadget.(with false nose)
Steve Myers Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 Normaly only pay up to £25-£30, but a couple of years ago I paid £100 for the Poets-Two hearts, cos I just had to have it !

Guest Nick Harrison Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 Still saving for mine Andy...............once got very close to swapping a copy of the Nu - Rons All Of My Life / Im A Loser for a much beloved wanted copy of Clarence C Coulter's Dyco outing .............entitled I Cant Fight The Feeling. Shat out at the last call though. Recently traded, (well 3 or 4 years ago) with Steve Plumb mint copies of Tobi Lark - Happiness Is Here on Topper, Nightchill - Hop Skip and Jump on Tra Sand, Carlena Weaver - Jealousy/Heaartbreak on Audel..........for a second copy of Walter Jackson - Let Me Come Back on Brunswick one recalls. Stuffing the current book price at the time on the above trades for my desired love of that need of backed up copies of the Chi/Brunswick produced sound.

I mean that was some trade especially as you already had one ! I love Walter Jackson and have all his Okeh stuff but i didn't realise his Brunswick sounds were so popular Going off the book price the Nu-Rons /Clarence C Coulter deal would have been a straight swap but the Walter Jackson deal Wow ! you must really love it ! boba Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 I just got cable TV like 9 months ago. The installers were really creepy, they were like "you have a lot of records" and then started asking about how much different things cost, like my turntables. They also asked about my job and when I was home, etc. Eventually it became clear they were scoping out my apartment to rob it. Then they were like "what's your most expensive record?" and I got even more nervous. I was just like "each one is only worth a dollar or two" and they kept pressing me on it an I kept repeating that.

tosspot Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 Cheapest record for me was when i was pestering a dealer at one of the blackpool w/enders years ago, (either he was drunk or i was, can't remember), anyway he gave me Ty karim - only a fool for £0 on the condition i'd F**k off , nowt so funny as folk ATB Robby rudolf
Platters 81 Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 personally i could never pay hard cash for records, it was always swap, haggle bit of this bit of that for sounds, but the most i handed over was 200 pounds when i bought Larry Clinton off Eddie Holman. think the idea of cheapest buy is more interesting though............where do you start? Steve (none left nowadays though never was a collector really ) Hey Tim always remember you for Showstopper ,Danny Woods didn´t you have the Majestics on Linda as well? i witnessed the deed Steve........didnt Keith M make a comment that upped the price........happy days......
