Always liked Odyssey myself especially New Yorker then I heard Esther Phillips version..!!! At the Torch I have to admit to liking Guy Darrell...then at Wigan Gary Lewis ffs. I blame the drugs..another was I Wanna Be The Only One - Eternal & Bebe Winnans.

Chris Rea..Stainsby Girls!! its about a girls college in Middlesboro and on a sunday Chris and his mates used to go to a coffee bar after travelling back from the Wheel, the Stainsby Girls used to come in ...pure pop/rock but what a story line..

Native new yorker is fantastic . I still play it out now. Nowt wrong with disco, aslong as it's the right kind. As far as I'm concerned the caretaker are borderline disco. Brilliant stuff!

Oh and I adore rain as well. Didn't know what it was, I'd always heard it on the 'this england' doc and got Pete to identify it. One of my favourite tunes!

Got to admit I really enjoyed that, good version too, except the kazoo right at the end

I bought a white label demo . From the states

only to find it's the vocal on both sides. lol

Was Alan Rhodes for definite, then Russ, then everyone else, Rhodesy also first to play Colored Man

Searling then Alan, I sold mine to Alan, that came from John Anderson along with Dawn Baby's gone away (ABC) via Ginger I think...

Searling was the only one I ever heard play Dawn.

7 Dwarfs for sure went to Alan - Dawn was still c/u as Lori Burton, can't remember who got it...

That's what i mean Because of the commercialisation of our scene at the time

nearly everything played at that time seems to be consigned to history !

even with all the crap , there was still a lot of good sounds in there !

Sorry, but Tim Tam is one record too far to admit liking, even a little bit.

It caused more harm than good and along with the others like it, helped kill the scene as I had known it. Of course that's only my opinion..................

Ed

I agree with you. A joke record. But played as a joke in the first place to be honest.

I have to say I am not embarrassed about any records I like. I think it's great that we all have our own taste and opimions on what we like and don't like. I have never shyed away from saying a tune is not for me despite who plays it me and how the majority love it. It would be a boring scene if we all had identical taste. I have however been subjected to the critical outbursts of my friends on several occasions for my minority dislikes of a record... Bloody bullies, bless em lol
