there has to be some skeletons in everyone's closet

With the commercialisation attempts over the years especially the era at Wigan

It seems politically incorrect for these records to see the light of day now

so which records do you not own up to liking ?

This i love because it reminds me of when they filmed "This England " yet never seems to get plays anymore

I have heard people slag it off so ?

SOD E'M

And this always reminds me of the Casino but i prefere the vocal version !

Anyway....

Roger K - Give Me The Love

Johnny Vanelli - 7 days of loving you

Except I'm not really that embarrassed about it! :P

I like Charity Brown, i also like 'The Snake' , i like Frank Wilson, The Casualeers, etc etc. all GREAT records in their own right, mostly over played, but brilliant recordings.

Like FW or not, theres no disputing that irresistable intro, then a huge rim shot brings the rhythm section in, superb record!

I prefer the instrumental version.....think the vocal sounds too much like a voice over for a cheesy porno film :D ....Del.,,xxx

Hello to all out there

I'm not embarrassed about my collection at all, probably because I'm so new to this scene & so I know so few records compared to 99.99% of you...but I know what I like & take as I find. I'm 51; when I was a teenager I'd buy LPs & 45s but I didn't know what wasn't supposed to go with what. I remember one day I bought "I can't stand the rain" by Ann Peebles (heard it on the radio, just had to have it) + a Genesis LP in the same shop! I got a funny look from the vendor! I was brought up on rock, got into blues & jazz later but always loved soul + reggae singles too. It's only very recently I've become aware just how many great soul 45s there are out there waiting for me to hear them. In the early 80s I got into some UK 60s group who never made it beyond a few 45s (Eyes, Creation, Action, Wimple Winch etc) & was totally blown away; now hearing Northern Soul stuff is like that x 10000000000000! Sorry to hijack this topic a bit but if anyone wants to get in touch & give us a few tips on great records I'd really appreciate it. Don't do vinyl, though...I know, heresy...sold my vinyl ages ago, no room, no money...anyway, enough from me; love to hear from you! Cheers, Richard, Oxford

Nowt' wrong with Tim and his Tampons - wish I still had my old copy.....

Lots of 'Dance' tracks from those days are now considered naff by the chin molesters, for Eg the 7 Dwarfs and The Night Watch are often slagged off as white pop music but are IMHO infinitely superior to Benny Troy or Ace fookin Spectrum which get murdered on a weekly basis on the scene.

Hi richard I like you also like many types of music but northern soul is at the center of my universe

i used to have a mixed tape in the car where the last movement of Swan lake was followed by Paranoid by Black Sabbeth
