Tubbs Posted November 21, 2005 Posted November 21, 2005 Just noticed John Manship has another john & the weirdest for auction 4 weeks after his last one. Tim Brown also has one for auction this month. Has a box been found or just coincidence? Tubbs
Marc Forrest Posted November 21, 2005 Posted November 21, 2005 Hopefully yes, so I could at least start dreaming of one day owning this truly great 45 ! But I do not know. Btw, what was the final bid on Manships last copy ? Marc
Guest Posted November 21, 2005 Posted November 21, 2005 Hi Marc, the beauty of this scene is the diversity of peoples tastes, i could care less if i ever heard this record again, don't get me wrong as an impressionable 17 year old in 1981 i used to rush with fervour onto the wonderful wooden herringbone floor at Clifton Hall when Richard Searling would delight the faithful with this 45'.......... But today it no longer holds the awe it once did for me.......i put this to listening and developing my personal tastes over these last 25 years. It isn't a question of whether i am right or wrong.....it is just a case of personal feeling toward certain records. Brett....... ps I am not saying i advocate Alcohol,Drugs and Violence...but they have always worked for me.

For f*cks sake man.... just because "it ain't" a play at a "progressive" club does not make it suddenly a "has been".... if "progressive taste" means you have to discount this then I now declare myself a "has been listener" AND a "gonna be listener" at the same time .... Yesterday, today or tomorrow.... this will always be a "class" piece of vinyl to drop on the decks.... full stop .... But like you say.... each to their own and all that....

Mark, like you say we all have differing tastes...listen this isn't some big progressive versus oldies debate, just a rational opinion of an individual record..i just do not care for it..simple as that. There are a myriad of so called "worn out" oldies that i do enjoy listening to and also wish i owned.. so get off your high horse and stop jumping on that 45' of mine in that "jack fultons" bag..under the table in your dining room...
Guest Posted November 21, 2005 Posted November 21, 2005 Mark one point in my favour, when you state lyrical genius..what about the line..."A Lonely Little Doggie Cried At The Door".. .....your having a Turkish mate...

Tim Brown also has one for auction this month. Has a box been found or just coincidence? Tubbs My theory is Johnny Madship got "mad" at TB's infantile comments about JM's auction listing a counterfeit so everyone knew what the DIFF was, before he listed the REAL one. So what does he do, he pulls another original out the bag or box or from under the bed... touche, like his style!! I'm sure gonna go for the one that starts @ £1.00 minimum. Last copy sold for well over 2k cause i got well beat on it. Ironically wasn't TB amoungst the gullable who bought a counterfeit for lotsa £££ when they were first presented..ouch!!
Tubbs Posted November 22, 2005 Author Posted November 22, 2005 That makes sense I suppose. Just have to wait and see how many more pop out of the woodwork in the next few months. Not sure who it was that got their fingers burned with the boot but did hear the story. Tubbs

Pete S Posted November 22, 2005 Posted November 22, 2005 I "found" Charles Diamond of the Inspirations a couple of years ago, his wife said they were still in touch with John Hendley, I just wonder if he supplied the records. I probably told someone and they ended up with the records no doubt.
Guest Posted November 22, 2005 Posted November 22, 2005 Yesterday, today or tomorrow.... this will always be a "class" piece of vinyl to drop on the decks.... full stop .... Not played anywhere near enough, must be due a revival, goes down a storm whenever I hear it.
Marc Forrest Posted November 22, 2005 Posted November 22, 2005 so, and what was the final bid on the last copy Manship had up for bids ?

sister dawn Posted November 22, 2005 Posted November 22, 2005 Pure Class and one of my all time favourites
Pete S Posted November 22, 2005 Posted November 22, 2005 Sorry but those lyrics are brilliant "the sink full of dishes you used to do, dust lying on a table top or two, one single hairpin lying on the floor, a lonely little doggie crying at your door, can't get over these memories"...they epitomise the loneliness and isolation of the writer

SteveM Posted November 22, 2005 Posted November 22, 2005 "the sink full of dishes you used to do, dust lying on a table top or two, one single hairpin lying on the floor, Sounds like my ex wife.
Quinvy Posted November 22, 2005 Posted November 22, 2005 so, and what was the final bid on the last copy Manship had up for bids ? Hi Marc, The answer to your question is £2590 The other side is the best i.m.h.o. p.s. heard from Butch, that he was well impressed by the stuff you and your mate were playing, when he was over there. Some great tunes that he had never heard before. High praise indeed. If you're ever over here, give me a shout. Come and do a spot at my night, Soul Salvation. Best Regards, Phil.
