Guest jordandance Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 Recently discovered the use of Bob's music on the Disco Love comp by Al Kent (BBE) in addition to a 12" issued by Kerri Chnadler on the Funky Chocolate series. Bob is basically living on very little income and was not even contacted (let alone paid) by either outfit. Any suggestions on how I go about this?
Guest jordandance Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 P.S. I have originals of I'm Alright with the sleeves signed by Bob if anyone is interested.
Guest jordandance Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 this is the comp BTW https://www.bbemusic.com/data.pl?release=BBE144CDG_MP3

Daved Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 (edited) Errr, contact BBE. They're usually very good at this sort of thing, as far as I understand it. Edited December 9, 2011 by daved

boba Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 Errr, contact BBE. They're usually very good at this sort of thing, as far as I understand it. I've heard the opposite but don't know firsthand so don't want to comment more.
Kris Holmes Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 they don't have the nickname "British Bootlegging Enterprises" in some circles for nothing............. but yeah, just keep trying to contact them directly.
Jnixon Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 it has also had a 12" 'issue' a year or so back, with a flipside not related to Bob. Don't know if he knows about this? I seem to remember some French link tho maybe wrong.

I contacted Kerri Chandler as he was affiliated with the Funky Chocolate label and he forwarded me a to a guy named Maraud, the owner, in France. no replies from him yet too.
Guest jordandance Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 CONTACTED! Contract is in the mail. bob's really happy. Here's a pic Bob gave me of the "I'm Alright Session" with JA star ET Webster and quite the JA soulster himslef, Stamma HAughton (who engineered the tune). You guys know Bob wrote "Night and Day" that the Chosen Few did eh?
Kris Holmes Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 awesome news, glad to see them doing right!
Ady Croasdell Posted December 13, 2011 Posted December 13, 2011 Great stuff, I'm sure there are a few others who would benefit from some back royalties.
