Philt Posted December 4, 2011 Posted December 4, 2011 (edited) I'll update periodically. Thanks for PMs so far Morning Need to generate some cash asap so list below of 45s for sale. A bit of a mix and all priced pretty sensibly I think / hope in UK pounds - have checked and tweaked one or two since original post already. If you disagree on a price and want to make a sensible offer feel free; we may be able to negotiate on the odd one or two although most are pretty much at or very near rock bottom. All strictly graded under a lamp to be 'Excellent' unless stated. Excellent means: - labels with no tears or stickers (and I'll describe any marks); -minimal / just a few superficial marks or scuffs on vinyl - plays without any background noise, crackles or pops etc. Money back if you're unhappy of course, no dramas. All overseas must be sent signed-for, standard UK postage rates. Payment via usual routes - PM for details and / or if you're interested in anything. Main bit: Fantasians - GI Joe (we love you) Thomas Ex+ £800 Proper Chicago rarity. Not many of these floating around The Firestones - I just can't wait (Moira) £150 SOLD Dem III - I got a woman (Jam-Cha) £250 vg++ Rare sparse production group dancer out of San Francisco. Had the odd play again of late. Very superficial marks dnap Precisions - what would you do (Wild) £100 Uptempo group dancer out of Boston Mass. (I think i.e. different group). Another that's had and is still getting plays at one or two more enlightened venues. Intrepids - to make you love me (Cotillion) £275 vg++ Awesome uptempo dancer IMHO. The odd very minor mark on the label, no tears. Vinyl is clean Bobettes - having fun / I've got to face the truth (RCA issue) £120 vg++ Two absolutely thumping sides, like a flippin bomb going off! Really tidy RCA issue. The odd very minor label scuff and vinyl ditto. Debonaires - headache in my heart (Solid Hit) £120 vg++ Noticeable but not awful label ring / fade and some light marks / scuffs on vinyl but nothing major Sonny Daye - long, long road to happiness (Power) £140 Stafford classic at what I think is a pretty fair price; great record! Joan Baker - everybody's talking (Diamond promo) £125 vg++ As above, old Betty Lavette & Big Wheels c/u. Minor warp dnap and equally minor scuffs on playing area. This needs pushing and playing again I reckon and I've heard it a few times out and about of late, good on em! Eddie Hill - nothing sweeter (M-S) £75 Cleanest copy I've ever had! Sublime Detroit and a bit of a bargain? Spindles - to make you mine / band played on (ABC Paramount) £50 TMYM is a great midtempo group tune and not that easy to get hold of it seems, really rate it Fiats - speak words of love (Universal w/d) £75 The odd very light scuff dnap. This is as cheap as it's going Wanda Rouzen - would you love me (Frisco) £50 vg++ Great gritty chugger; old Banksie spin back in t'day. Minor (part) ring on label and the odd light scuff on playing area; no dramas Tony Talent - gotta tell somebody (about my baby) Vando w/d £40 vg++ Absolutely love this record and it defo needs some more plays out IMHO! Packed the floor at Grumpy Soul earlier this year and one of those records that sounds like it should cost more than it does. Thin biro scribble and a bit of discolouration to labels both sides, ina couple of patches. Vinyl nice and clean overall. Ernie Johnson & Soul Blenders - you got to be faithful and true (Duplex) £70 vg++ Great semi-known dancer been getting some spins here and there. Very slight label discolouration on ygtbf side, vinyl clean and nothing much to report. This one isn't likely to get any cheaper as I paid more than this for it Marva Josie - don't / I love New York (UA w/d) £150 vg++ / Ex Don't is total magic of course but I wouldn't ignore the flip either, builds and builds! Blue felt tip x on 'don't' side but not huge or too messy. Vinyl very tidy, only v light scuffs Mel Vena Allen - the bigger your heart (Salvador) £50 Love this really quirky builder; sounds a bit mad I always think but it's good madness! Fetched what I thought was daft money at auction not that long ago as I recall but not an easy 45 to pick-up nowadays it seems. Spidells - if it ain't one thing it's another (Coral promo) £50 vg++ Small wol on IIAOT side, minor scuffs. Vinyl looks a bit flat/dull overall but no deep scuffs or gouges. So, not mint but defo not knackered either. Great record too of course. Ok ... next-up, a number of cheaper things. I've listed many of these before at various times but we really do need the space now so they've got to go. I think there are some genuinely good bits n bobs mixed in here so do have a have a proper look. You might find the odd bargain and even if you were intent on buying most of these 'blind' I honestly don't think you could go that far wrong. You can hear the vast majority via Youtube anyway: £15 each (or 5 for £65 - 10 for £100 or all 13 for £125)+ postage Kenneth & Delroy - let me hold you close (Steeltown) Niter spins previously Kelly Brothers - haven't I been good to you (Excello) Little Ben and the Cheers - baby you're mine (Rush) hold on to your hat!! Vontastics - feel kind of bad (Chess) Gene and Eddie - sweet little girl (Ru Jac w/d) N Group - keep on running (Wes Mar) Butch Baker - the fat man Scott Bros - they all came back (Toddlin Town) vg/+ large wol, lots of lightish marks and scuffs. Really good instr, recent spins too Barbara Lynn - this is the thanks I get (Atlantic) SOLD Lee Rogers - Jack the playboy (Premium Stuff) Yet another pounding dancer from LR Josephine Taylor - good lovin' (Mar-V-Lus) great gritty Chicago dancer , Somebody buy this, can't go wrong! Jean Knight - love (Tribe) Mean n moody mid pacer, like this a lot and it's a belter of its ilk Festivals - you've got the makings of a lover (Smash) High class mid tempo Incredibles - crying heart (Audio Arts - blue) strong vg+ I'd say, maybe a bit better. Superb group harmonies £20 each (or 2 for £36 - 4 for £65 or all 7 for £90) + postage Monclairs - wait for me (Sunburst) vg++ Sublime group mid tempo, v light and minor marks Ila Van - get to Jim Johnson (Roulette w/d) Quirky uptempo dancer, good cheapie Kenny Smith - my day is coming (RCA w/d) good uptempo oldie, might call it 'underplayed' I suppose? Delcos - Arabia (Showcase) strong vg+ Xol and a few light scuffs, never fails to get em dancing (in our house anyway) Net Wt. 14 Karat Black - ain't nothin but a habit (Luna) strong vg+ Globeliters - the way you do (Philtown w/d) strong vg+ Great old Stafford spin, forgotten now? Label a bit grubby and the odd light mark. I'd want 25 if mint and you don't see it everywhere either Florence Miller - I believe in love (P&P) nice mid-tempo x-over(ish) and dead good fem vocal. Books at 75 - nah! Still dead cheap at 20 £25 each (or 2 for £45 - 3 for £65 or all 4 for £75) + postage Martha Carter - you can if you think you can (Ron) Spot-on uptempo gritty dancer. Always rated this Apollas - sorry mama (Loma) Old Gaz Kellett fave rave and I'd go with his judgement about tunes as a rule Prophets - suspicion (in your heart) (Advance Records) This is the faster version; suggest play at -2 or thereabouts? Carolyn Crawford - I'll come running / my smile is just a frown (Motown) strong vg / + bit of ringwear on ICR side label and a good number of marks on both sides of the vinyl. No major gouges though and plays well enough overall. Two great sides for virtually nothing! £30 each (or 2 for £55 - 3 for £80 - 4 for £105 - all 5 for £125) + postage The Chymes - I've lost (Teako) Absolutely storming uptempo, had the odd Burnley spin and seen for £75+ Fabulous Mustangs - I won't let you go (Stang) vg+/+ Personally I do still love this group spin and here's a spare copy. Reminds me of the Arcades due to a kind of haunting. moody quality. Sadly, the low-fi recording doesn't really do it justice but still a worthy addition and an absolute bargain it seems as it books @ 200 Mama's Boy - mama come and get your baby boy (Mos-Ley) - Instrumental to Katie Brigg's monster. Slight ring to label and the odd light scuff mark which dnap. Seen regularly for £50+ in sales boxes JJ Daniels - mr lonesome (Sure Shot promo) Great uptempo dancer from days of yore and you really can't be done for this at 30 quid can you? Relatives - three kinds of love / she's got soul (Wow) old Rob Marriott spin and two solid dancers. Two faint Xs on tkol side. Give away price! Finally, I would definitely be interested in the following trades / part-ex against any of the above Little Charles & Sidewinders - talkin' bout you babe (Decca) Sea Shells - quiet home (Villige) Larry Davis - I've been hurt so many times (Kent) Little Stanley - the stran (Vance) Gloria and the Tiaras - I'm so satisfied (Betty) Embers - where did I go wrong (Atlantic) Rocky Gil & Bishops - it's not the end (Tear Drop) needs to be vg+ or better to replace my knackd copy) Two People - stop, leave my heart alone (Revue) All the best Phil Edited December 4, 2011 by PhilT
boba Posted December 4, 2011 Posted December 4, 2011 that firestones is very difficult to find clean (not that it's easy to find at all). The only clean one I've ever seen is the one that was on ebay recently.
Philt Posted December 4, 2011 Author Posted December 4, 2011 Hi Bob, hope you're well. Me neither, had a bashed-up one many moons ago and recall Sam (?) maybe playing it at one time or another over here. Not sure how many folk will be that familiar with it to be honest?

Not sure how many folk will be that familiar with it to be honest? my copy is trashed. You know this is the same group as the falcons on big wheel? it's their last record I think.

Philt Posted December 4, 2011 Author Posted December 4, 2011 I Sold a Copy on here that was in good nick , but it is very hard on the label and if my memory is right ,I seem to recall it has a decent flip ? Eyup Nev. Yes, the flip is pretty good as I recall and might even be described in some quarters as having a slight 'funky-edge' to it? (I think that's the right term although I'm nothing if not square and absolutely not down with the kids so could just have made that up and myself look an even bigger tool in the process ha ha) How do you lock a topic these days btw? No offence guys of course, I've got some work to do that's all LOL
Liljimmycrank Posted December 4, 2011 Posted December 4, 2011 Ernie Johnson is an absolute steel at the price. Regularly sells for double that! P.S if you wanna lock your thread Phil, click in the thread to get into it from the sales page, scroll to the bottom and you'll see a button called 'topic moderation'. Click that then click 'close thread' and boom, topic locked :-) Azza
boba Posted December 4, 2011 Posted December 4, 2011 Sorry if I was messing up your sales, I was trying to point out that that record is even rarer in the condition you have it. Thanks.
