Scotters Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 Barbara Mercer - So Real. A pal holding a nice copy for me so I'm looking forward to adding this to the collection soon! Not sure if YouTube allowed on this thread so by all means delete if not (my first Yellow Card?):

Robbk Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 (edited) I think Joe Casey was the owner (or a co-owner). I think Al Placido (Top Ten) and Ernie Stratton had something to do with them as well. I think Placido was A & R man for a while.George McGregor was a major producer, Mike Valvano, Mike Terry, McKinley Jackson, and Dale Warren and Mike Theodore were in on sessions. They recorded a lot at Ralph and Russ Terrana's Tera Shirma studio. Edited November 28, 2011 by RobbK
Guest Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 (edited) found this https://www.globaldog...fo/s/sidra.html A few amendments: 9001/2 Ronnie & Robyn: came out on Team Town and HBR...no Sidra label release 9005 Gino Washington: came out on W.I.G....no Sidra label release 9933 Pearl Jones: came out on W.I.G...no Sidra label release ...and this one was missing, as it was on most early attempts of the discography due to its rarity: Sidra10084 - Byron - I Just Want You (For My Own) / Whales Wail Edited December 3, 2011 by Flynny
Guest Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 Just the one in my box, but what a great double-sider! One of the best EVER Detroit double-siders...imo...love them both...faultless productions (Don't buy the Capitol release as the sound quality isn't as sharp.)
Premium Stuff Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 (edited) A few amendments: 9001/2 Ronnie & Robyn: came out on Team Town and HBR...no Sidra label release 9005 Gino Washington: came out on W.I.G....no Sidra label release 9933 Pearl Jones: came out on W.I.G...no Sidra label release ...and this one was missing, as it was on most early attempts of the discography due to its rarity: Sidra10084 - Byron - I Just Want You (For My Own) / Whales Wail The globaldogproductions discog has a few mistakes as you correctly pointed out Dave. The discog from Soulful Kinda Music in Roger's original post looks correct overall for Sidra 45s without checking it all (re-posted below) but omits the Ronnie & Robyn on Team Town/HBR and Pearl Jones on W.I.G. - plus there were other releases on W.I.G which aren't mentioned: Sidra 9003 - The 5 Of A Kind - Please Tell Me (They Were Wrong) / The Other Side Sidra 9004 - The Chosen Lot - If You Want To / Time Was W.I.G. 9005 - Gino Washington - Romeo / Now You're Lonely Sidra 9006 - Ronnie & Robyn - Each Time / As Long As You Love Me (I'll Stay) Sidra 9007 - Ronnie & Robyn - Sidra's Theme / Blow Out The Candle Sidra 9008 - The Chantones - I Remember You / Talkin' Sidra 9009 -The Oxford Five - The World I've Planned / Out Of Love For You Sidra 9010 - The Embraceables - Here I Go / Let My Baby Go Sidra 9011 - Ronnie & Robyn - Step Into My Heart / As Long As You Love Me (I'll Stay) Sidra 9012 - Barbara Mercer - Call On Me / So Real Sidra 9013 - Timmy Willis - Mr.Soul Satisfaction / I'm Wondering Sidra10084 - Byron - I Just Want You (For My Own) / Whales Wail This also correctly shows Ronnie & Robyn on 9006 - the first release of As Long As You Love Me (I'll Stay) which came out as a red issue and a WDJ. The Chris Carpenter shown as 9006 in the globaldogproductions discog came out on Ocean-Side 100 and is a garage/psych thing - not soul. I will post up a scan of the rare Byron 45 if I get the chance later on Cheers Richard Edited December 3, 2011 by Premium Stuff
Guest Buey Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 Q: The more fancy lable design... are these boots or later issues or what?
Premium Stuff Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 (edited) Q: The more fancy lable design... are these boots or later issues or what? There are bootlegs on both the 'simple' and 'fancy' label designs. It's just that the label design changed at release 9009 to the 'fancy' label. Then, strangely enough, back to the old design for 9012 After that one it was different again. Cheers Richard Edited December 3, 2011 by Premium Stuff
Prophonics 2029 Posted December 4, 2011 Posted December 4, 2011 Not sure if I like this style of label better than the Sidra squiggle type.
Geoff B Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 Looks like this was the first release as matris reads ZTSC97973, ATB,Geoff.
Geoff B Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 Hi Roger, Wonder what happened when they released this? TEAM TOWN/TEEN TOWN
Northern Soul Uk Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 Can someone help please? Just come back from the Kellingley Charity Alldayer and one of the jocks played a track on 'Sidra' with exactly the same backing as Ronnie & Robyn - As long as you love me /Sidras theme, but with completely different vocals and title. It was a male vocal track. The label was a white Sidra. Anyone any idea please?
