I'm not trying to be pedantic or the like but this quote from a dealers site had me questioning my memory:

"Village Sound - These Windows - Onyx

Virtually Unknown 60s Dancer & Will BE Massive One Day Its Got Everything + Brill 60s Mod Dancer On The Flip"

Virtually unknown is not a phrase I'd have thought related to do this 45. Would you?

Big sound from 79 onwards, hard to find, looking at 125 quid I would have thought but anyone describing this as virtually unknown obviously hasn't been on the scene that long...or they don't know as much as they think they do. I have no idea who the seller is.

Always been popular up here north of the border since I started goin to northern doo's in 84....in the bracket of classic oldie I'd say.

Yes Classic Oldie and the Grant smith aint bad either!

People will say anything to assist deluded prices!

sorry but you have to price things realistically - but hey ! if they sell for the price quoted, then fair play

It most certainly is Pete (unless it's his son?), I don't think it's lack of knowledge just trying to talk up his stock, he says the same about lots of very well known stuff....................he's no doubt aiming at those who've only just arrived on the scene & have more money than sense.

I first heard this 30yrs ago.It was always on various sales lists quoted as will go massive but never quite got there.

Not a bad record though and not surprised it goes for £100 +.

A great record, but it'd grieve me to pay over £40 for it!

i doubt you'll ever own one then - a genuinely hard to find 45 in my experience - and was fetching around £100 ten to fifteen years ago

Paid 15 quid for mine prob very early 80s, didn't Soul Sam use to hammer it covered up ?

I still maintain it's only £25 more than that now.

No doubt it probably is Pete,

The price I quoted was pre-eBay and pre-internet so things were in the main harder to find.

I was just confirming that you'd be hard pressed to get one for under a ton since it's historicly been around that price and above.

I've had 3 over the years and they've cost £25, £14, and £38.

Must admit I haven't priced one up in the last 20 years though!

And I must admit to losing the last couple of ebay bids on Art Gentry "Merry Go Round" on the same label because it went for around £15 more than I was expecting.

:)

Was it not covered up as Melvin something or other. I cant recall the surname .

My own copy which I bought from either Gary Rushbrooke or Sam was covered up as Melvin Davis "These Windows Can't Hide" (as "Find a Quiet Place" was big at the time).

My earlier post may have got missed, but this copy for sale at the moment, is it "Village Sound" or "Village Sounds" - I've had both a few times over the years - but more fractionally more copies of "Village Sound" seem to have come my way.

No idea which is original though.

Cheers

Mick
