Going back through some old mags the other day got me thinking of various venues over the years and ONE record that instantly made the memories flood back. I found its not always the 'best' record that came first!)

Starting off:

Baileys Doncaster - Five and a penny - you dont know where your interest lies

Brickyard Mexboro - Al Kent - The way youve been acting lately

Assembly rooms Rotherham - Jeanette White - Music

Windmill Rotherham - Jody Mathis - Dont you care anymore

Cleethorpes Winter Gardens - Rain - Out of my mind

Wakefield Trinity Hall - Seventh Wonder - Captain of my ship

Green Dragon Thurcroft - Bobby Womack - Home is where the heart is

Soul in the sun Tenerife - Sam the sham - Wully Bully

Over to you.........

Others played in there which remind me of St Ives include Adams Apples - Don't Take it Out On This World , Bobby Hutton - Lend A hand, Jo Bell Orch - Never Gonna Let You Go, Todays People - SOS Time for Love , Lainie Hill - Time Marches On. Oldies Room - Lee Roye -Tears, Herbie Hunter - Born To Love You, Joe Hicks - Don't It make You Feel Funky.

Hi Mike

Others that I heard there for the first time include Tony Middleton - Paris Blues (sounded really really slow in the current climate) of , Maurice Williams - Being without you , The Ellingtons -

Destined to become a loser, Jewells - We Got Togetherness,, Quite a number of what became known as Wigan tunes were broke at the Ivo centre. Happy memories indeed

And the oldies room possibly the darkest place ever... Lee Roye & HB Barnum stand out for me in there, and jumping off the terraced seating round the walls...

Jesus Christ....

Someone actually remembers the After 8 Club. It was a dive but the music was great. What a sad occasion though when at one of the all-dayers, right in the middle of Rob Smith's spot, some hooligans decided to rip apart a teddy bear in the middle of the dance floor. There was stuffing all over the place while I was trying to dance to Toni Basil's "Breakaway" which was huge at the time. As for the memories of record and venue's... Richard Searling playing Curtis' "How Can I Tell Her" at the Clifton Hall in Rotherham and the floor being alive with the Preston Street Dancers. Now that's a memory that will stay with me.
