Guest lolmil Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 Don't know if this has been done before but what is the best northern verse that sticks in your mind? For me it has to be :- I'm tracking water all through the house I thought it was from a leaking sink So I called a plumber to rush right over To see if he could fix this leak He rushed right in and took a look And much to my surprise He said now son it's not your sink But teardrops from your eyes (ok, this is two verses but who's counting) Who know's, if we get enough Mr. Levine might cut them as a re-mix!!
Guest Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 i`m three time`s happier than the law allows me to be.... Lou Ragland.... and me....
Guest andycambs Posted November 17, 2005 Posted November 17, 2005 You can go and find you somebody else, I can live cheaper by myself, Don't need no woman to help me starve to death, can you dig it? Williams and Watson of course, the entire song is excellent but those three lines stand out for me (not speaking through experience) just incase she's reading this later Andy
Simsy Posted November 17, 2005 Posted November 17, 2005 (edited) When you've got the trouble of the world on your shoulders and each passing day the sun grows a little colder, your future doesn't look any brighter, your load isn't getting any lighter, you're down and push has come to shove, now is the time to try my love. Well if we're not counting: Look at me a king on the throne With everything a man could ever own But without you by my side No girl to be my guide I am nothing, nothing at all look at me a thousand slaves at my hand waiting to obey my every command Cos without you by my side No girl to be my guide I am nothing, nothing at all Give up my castles Give up my slaves For just one precious moment in your embrace Here I stand with tears in my eyes Though I have everything I can only sit and sigh Cos without you by my side No girl to be my guide I am nothing, nothing at all girlies: Here I am a king of no one else, baby baby ?? Ooh I'm nothing I ain't got no love Oh baby I'm a king And I have everything Oh but love is what I need now

Soulsmith Posted November 17, 2005 Posted November 17, 2005 The whole of If You Ask Me - Jerry Williams. Proper. One guy on the scene, had lyrics to that put on his back as a tattoo.
Guest Byrney Posted November 17, 2005 Posted November 17, 2005 One guy on the scene, had lyrics to that put on his back as a tattoo. Didnt Pete Lawson have a verse on his chest? Top verse for me: Sorry if I sound concieted but I think I'm better than you, if you had this girl of mine I think that you'd be bragging too. As played at my wedding as the good Mrs Byrne and I signed the register
Guest Posted November 17, 2005 Posted November 17, 2005 When you go through a day And the things that people say They make you feel so small They make you feel that Your heart will just never stop aching And when you just can't accept the abuse you are taking Darlin' reach out for me Don't you worry, I'll see you through You just have to reach out for me I'll be there and I'll comfort you Oh yes, I will Comfort you and love you Oh how I'm gonna love you When good friends prove untrue And the things they do to you They make you feel so bad They make you feel that You haven't a reason for living So when you feel you Could throw in the towel and just give in One of my favourite soul records is this.... Did you know Olivia Newton John covered that too! LOL

Guest rachel Posted November 17, 2005 Posted November 17, 2005 There's so many but cos I've just been playing it.. the lyrics of Jimmy Ricks do funny things to me (yes even the quivering liver bit ) You fell in my arms and fitted like a glove Then you led me knee deep into love, love, love... You make me tremble and shake like an earthquake When you press your lips to mine How I love the way that you make The chills run up and down my spine... Mmm ooh what a feeling indeed....
Blake H Posted November 17, 2005 Posted November 17, 2005 Thats QUALITY, not sure about the Adults bit though? Yeah your right Gav Three adults and Kev Johno.

Me and Dave Godin go for that, and no one can beat Mr Godins taste, Blues and Soul 1972. I remember that! I copied the words from Dave's "Lyric Turn On Of The Fortnight"! Then wrote them in a lurve letter to me girlfriend. She dumped me the very next week. Fortunately, soon after, Dave also feaured the Ad Libs, Nothing Worse Than Being Alone! It's mad the things that stick in your brain ain't it? Edited November 18, 2005 by Dayo

I have cried along with many others singing this song while on the dancefloor.. Just thinking about the song makes me weak! It also just kills you the with the line "Heaven came and took her away, out of my arms and left me to wonder"..That is soul music and why we are all here.. god bless the soul www.cooloff.net for club info and much more... Guest Lean Posted November 23, 2005 Posted November 23, 2005 i've got tons of food girl, pounds and pounds of silver, but that just dont seem enough coz you are the gold you are the gold of my life...
Guest Dan Posted November 23, 2005 Posted November 23, 2005 always had a soft spot for these but there are so many great lyrics out there (and some shite ones too) it's just another way, to pass the time of day a way to spend my time, to keep you off my mind watching the clouds in the sky, go slowly drifting by like feeding the birds in the park, and counting the stars after dark and searching for...something new to do i tried walking in the street, but i only got tired feet travelling in the same direction, and winding back up where i began... watching the clouds in the sky, go slowly drifting by like feeding the birds in the park, and counting the stars after dark and searching for...something new to do it's so hard when you're feeling blue

Gary Posted November 23, 2005 Posted November 23, 2005 Lots really, but this one in particular at the minute, Now baby i need you with all my soul, Come some day we'll reach our goal, Got to keep moving and we cant turn around, Happiness and success it can be found.
sepia Posted November 23, 2005 Posted November 23, 2005 DONT LEAVE ME IN A PATENT WAY,LET ME DOWN EASY. which we never do
Guest Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 I always liked that bit in 'blowing up my mind' where the nice young lady talks about wrapping up in adhesive tape from the waist down then swallowing honeybees pound by the pound. It always conjured up a pleasant feeling inside me Keb
Guest Coxy Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 There`s a line from a track off the last album Johnny Adams made before he died that always makes me smile when I hear it: " for a woman who never touched a mop you sure cleaned out my bank, never left me a lot" Divorce always creates great lyrics
Guest Jamie Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 "Crackerjacks & Toblerones and then we know that we're in love, just smell the fresh air, whey-hey!" Harvey Averne, Central Park You lot are so not beating that
Guest Neil-ok Posted November 25, 2005 Posted November 25, 2005 Gotta agree with andycambs, too late williams and watson re- i dont need no woman to help me starve to death. The whole song is a great for the verses "you and your new love keep on keepin on" but the best is "tell her to keep that love man...if that what she calls it she`ll mess you around and make you alcaholic".Great stuff.
