The backing is great would make a better instrumental - IMO that's what stands out on the track.

I can only think of 1 preacher that sings better than this Humm Humm! no names mention~~~nudge nudge~~wink wink~~~know what I mean.

Ultra crap? You should see the reaction it gets, plus the last minute is just priceless. You really got to laugh sometimes...

I remember dancing to Joe 90 Lol, we all make mistakes.

Is JC the same backing track.

Ah..the good old days ,when anything that could be interpreted by the "northern soul " dancer ,got thrown in the mixing pot!

We should start a thread on the naffest tunes played at Wigan .lol

Prefer the first mix on this one.

its got me feet tapping.

Now you're talking fantastic theme and show however there were two versions one where you could hear the ticatape machine and one without. One of the best episode's is the one with the hippies tripping on acid ................classic and ofcource a very young Gabrial Drake stripping down on moon base I alway's fantasized about purple shiny wig's for years after that ah well regards Simon.

Pure class tune...Seen this literally take the roof off at venues along followed with a round of applause and wolf whistling. Then again the average age of the venue was about 25 and it was people who were there for a party rather than slag records off and stroke thier chins! Shame it's now out of my price range!

Fortunately I wasn't around when people where dancing or even listening to Joe 90. If you think I'm referring to Joe 90 you need to get yourself out to some decent nights and start educating yourself...I recommend Soul-ed Out, Burnley, Empty Bottles.

I try not to post to much on here these days , half the time you dont know who your talking to but hey... i was around when the joe 90 thing was playing, i dont know shamo 1, or i might , not sure ???, but i do know callum... and i have huge respect for him , yep young lad with a fantastic collection of records, and knows how to dj.... jonathon capree..............fookin tune,!!! . now please dont insult me that is my view.Andy.

Wonder where this copy is from, i know who owns the other 3, is this a sale by one of them or a 4th Copy...

I would guess this making treble the last one sold for at least.. We shall see...

In the right club at the right time this tune works a treat, glad there aint too many copies around, to hear it a few times a year is good, would not want it battered every week, same with many other tunes...

I can see how this tune is the dogs bollocks to some and not to the liking of others, aint that the beauty of music...

Go easy folks...

I was also around when Joe 90 was played but tended to prefer the Cecil Washington/profesional type sound and no you don't know me and probably never will as in the same way Callum won't.what were you refering to when you used the phrase "now please don't insult me " it dosn't seem to make any form of rational mental balance in contex with your other sentance's in fact I get the impression you were either being sarcastic or antaganistic which of the two emotions were you trying to expose me to ?

callum and simon,,,2 great blokes

I don't think so mate.

Posted

Callum if you knew who Sharmo was you would not have made that statement mate

From that comment I gather that Sharmo has been around the block in terms of the soul scene and probably does know his tunes but I just can't see how anyone can put JC in the same bracket as Joe 90? IMO JC is as good as if not better than Grey Imprint, Sacred Four etc.

That's £9,999 to much, its a crap record. Rarity over quality scenario.

£10,000 i hope

get a grip 'you can other good record with that kind of money

Posted

Only 4 copies, that's good won't have to hear very often then..

dont think Simon was trying to insult any one with his question you just took it the wrong way, his collection is probaly in the top 10 in the country and features all genres of soul

No insult taken mate, it's a forum I just posted my thoughts. Can't wait to hear JC...roll on Saturday!

Well said, why can't people just accept differing views & tastes if a person only has one record but he or she enjoys it then so be it.

dancer???... yes,....

rare???...from what folks are saying ..yes......

but i find it just a bit "wet" compared to something like dusty wilson

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qXwiCBcSf1A

for me it's got no balls!!!!!....and certainly not in the same league as grey imprint ......IMO but opinions are like arseholes.....so "more power to you" (another tune with bigger balls!!!!) to folks that dig it and rate it high...but just not for me

no offense to intended

JC is the kind of tune that really works out and loud in the right club, with those ingredients it does create a magic blend..

Many times we view tunes from a play off the pc while sat at home with a cup of tea... Not really the place to do it justice...

"The revolution will not be televised, the revolution will be live"

Spiritual lyrics that lead some folk to the mountain top..

praise the lord... praise the lord...

I agree with that too Cobbles.... many many more out there that i would put above JC... And i know part of its magic is the very very rare aspect

but....

JC is a cult record, when its played to its true cult the atmosphere is a sight to behold...

that being the case then....there's no arguing with that!!!!!!

as said before more power to folks that dig it !!!.....in a strange way i hope i hear it out somewhere now !!!! i'd never heard it until the ebay ad and wondered what all the fuss was about

if only get to hear that one record (JC) i will be going home a happy man. but saying that , it will be only one of many great tunes played on Saturday , and i hope no one else like it as it just leaves more room for me on the floor but as i well know the floor will be packed .

can only hope it gets played twice  bring it on Tommaso

I don't know what it is about this record but in my experience conversations about it usually end up in some sort of insult and tetchy comments...I remember saying that it was a great tune because , IMO, Mik made it sound like a great record and that is Mik's skill when he's playing but someone still tried to shoot me down , failed miserably mind but tried anyway .

I don't what the universal test for a good record is , dancefloor reaction maybe? if that's the case then the 2 or 3 times I've heard it out it cleared the floor everytime , But i still remember liking it
