NOVEMBER RARE SOUL AUCTION FINISHES 2.00pm FRIDAY 25th NOVEMBER 2011 WRITTEN OR EMAIL BIDS ONLY BY ABOVE TIME PLEASE MIN BID £ To view the items below go to www.raresoulvinyl.co.uk and click on Auctions NOV - A Mamie Galore No Right To Cry Sack 4361 M- 600 A long time legend of Northern Soul always rated by the top collectors. And Mamie was such a great singer too. Deep soul flip NOV - B Chubby Checker You Just Don't Know Parkway WD VG++ 500 At one time the U.S. copy of this record was a Holy Grail (of course it couldn't be because that was a religious item) but at the Torch etc was spun on UK label without being known on import label. It wasn't until 1977 that it turned up on the West Coast Parkway imprint. Still very rare NOV - C Jesse Fisher Honey Sojamm 195 M- 400 I first came across this 1974 dancer when a friend got a copy in '76. It was to be a good dozen years before I obtained a copy for my collection. It's a tough one as you can see NOV - D Clarence Townsend I Found A New Love Clara 312 M- 450 A few copies came along in the middle nineties only to vanish quicker than a Carlos Tevez promise! Has proved tough to locate in the intervening years. Top quality 60s with loads of deejay potential NOV - E Ty Karim You Just Don't Know Romark 113 VG++ 1500 Top quality West Coast Northern Soul from a singer with real identity and SOUL. A very strong VG++ amounts to mint minus with just some minor marks that are very difficult to see NOV - F Old(M)Pressions Right On Brooks Bros VG++ 300 Arthur and Richard Brooks were early members of the Impressions who left to get grips with a grittier sound. In terms of hits this was a disaster but rare soul aficionados aren't that fickle. Even as late as this 1978 release they were still making very obscure music. This has what it takes to really go places today - check out the soundbite NOV - G Detroit Executives Cool Off GM 10" Acetate VG++ 200 A chance to own a piece of history in the shape of this original acetate autographed by the writer / producer Richard 'Popcorn' Wylie. It would appear to be exactly as per the Pameline release but all the same, rather unique NOV - H Anetta Archibald Clip My Wings Swift 2919 VG++ 400 Few indeed are the quality 60s pieces that have turned up in the last ten years - here's one of the few. Hard driving black music that takes no prisoners. Good stuff NOV - I Ernie Johnson I Can't Stop The Pain Artco 104 VG++ 1500 Phoenix's version of the Shrine label in that every release is a) rare as snake fur , and b) top quality soul music. Ernie Johnson was one half of Eddie & Ernie (not the 'Big Man Cry' vocalist) with the result that this is rather brilliant soul music NOV - J Nelson Sanders Mojo Man Rambler 3001 VG++ 400 Apart from one mark this Detroit rarity would be mint minus. A subsidiary of La Beat this gritty stomper has all it takes to tear dance floors up for an adventurous DJ NOV - K Betty Wilson I'm Yours Dayco 1631 M- 600 One of the select band of Washington D.C. rare labels (there aren't many) sees the early arranging skills of Donny Hathaway create moody, atmospheric brilliance NOV - L Tamiko Jones I'm Spellbound Golden World 40 M- 400 Ever seen this before? Yes that's right, it's a yellow ISSUE copy rather than the white demo. I've only seen one other "in the flesh". If classic Detroit is your thing then consider how long it may be before another copy is offered for sale NOV - M J. T. Rhythm My Sweet Baby Palmer 5021 D M- 500 Staying with the Motor City for another 60's winner from Detroit that just oozes class in every groove NOV - N Paul Vann One Track Mind Chance 1 M- 500 Fantastic soulful stomper has been getting good spins at the upfront venues for a few years now without turning up (well, one on Ebay at over $1,000 if you like!) NOV - O Bobby Bennett Alone With My Tears V-Tone 502 VG++ 500 One of the greatest beat ballads of all time and certainly one of the rarest, especially this blue label issue copy - virtually all of the few copies seen are promos PLEASE NOTE : 45's FROM HERE ON - SET SALE SECOND PAGE FOCUS Previously unissued 45 special - every collection needs 'em! 1 Little Willie J The Pressure Hip City 5 M- 15 Previously unissued R&B mover only on scarce German anniversary 45.
