boba Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 while wasting time i decided to look at the very first sales on here: https://www.soul-source.co.uk/forum/4-sales/page__prune_day__100__sort_by__Z-A__sort_key__start_date__topicfilter__all__st__38800 i was surprised that most prices were pretty much the same or higher than now. obviously some records that were nothing that became in demand went up, but i was surprised overall.

Interesting stuff Bob, never thought to do that. A lot of us probably had more money in our pockets in real terms in 2006, so maybe what people are prepared to pay now compared to then hasn't change since we've all got poorer. In a lot of cases I reckon people will pay less for the more common records than they would back then, I know dealers are struggling to move the lower priced stuff thesedays, the big ticket items will always go up though in my opinion. You're right about demand and popularitity, avaliability is also a factor, Royal Esquires at $200? It'll never see that price again.
