Michael Japps: Welsh Man Who Wrote For Motown ?

Was speaking to somebody over the weekend who has a friend called Michael Japps, who has written songs for allot of classic Rock groups like Marmalade in the 7ts..

Anyhow we got onto Soul records of course and he said that his friend had written for Motown, and had been one of the first white writers for the company, and my eyes lit up; 'M.Japps' I know I've seen this credit I just cant remember where, anybody help, cast some light on this guy? :g:

There is an article in wikipedia, the guy is Mikel Japp, but no mention of ever writing for Mowtown.

yep that's the guy.. the credit did it for me though, M Japp, I know I've seen this credit...

All this was kind of connected to the Jackson's also, as Jermaine Jackson had mentioned Michael's name on X factor or Pop idol, one of the two....my mate and his wife had been watching and mentioned it to Mike Japp, who had never mentioned working for Motown, it may be that he co wrote on a track or two as he was based in LA for some years in the 7ts..

be nice to confirm any tracks that the M Japps credit appears on, by the looks of it its going to be with 7ts acts..

just interested to find out more..

He's got 75 copyrights registered in his name on BMI, not one of them affiliated to a Motown publishing company (e.g. Jobete, Stone Diamond, Stone Agate)...

google points to a interview on a kiss site with him (think has wrote some stuff for them)

where he says was signed up for motown in the 70s and did record a lp

but it was never released

maybe thats what the guy was on about ?

Must do Mike, Met the guy who knows Mike Japps at Liza's friend Lisa Hughes wedding last week, think you may remember her from Risca?

Met up with mark White a couple times recently, went to a little do in High Wycombe about a month ago, top of the stairs and 3 quid in type do, it was good fun, like to try some by you as well in the new year, any suggestions?

'Mike' is the new 'Dai' here in Wales Malc. Didn't you know Mike Wilkes changed his name by deedpoll? He was actually born Dafydd Arwel Wyn Calvin Hughes Roberts Williams-Jones........innit butt, O! What's occurring?

(which reminds me - I've just seen Rob Brydon doing a book signing at Waterstones here in Cardiff when I nipped out to Greggs. Tidy, like)
