Keepin the Faith moanin kev Always been an advocate of everything under one roof although I must say, I'm jaded at the moment and can't be arsed with the retro side of things. I'm sure if it moved on, featured all aspects... northern, ballads, modern, soulful house and indeed the "new" funk side of things it would make it more interesting for everyone apart from those set in their ways. Love it all and that's the way it should be, after all, it's all soulful whether it's to your taste per individual record or not. Steve Link to comment Social source share

Dazdakin
The "scene" as it is at the moment is doing just about ok without the need for a massive rethink on music policy...especially for an "ATB" policy as it does not and would not work UNLESS your talking an atb policy of northern soul i.e. Oldies/Rarer Under played/New 6T's discoveries (if they are any good and not just new and rare as this does not mean that they are any good) with a mix of R&B and some of the Funk stuff that the likes of Mick "H" can spin. All of the above can and have in years past lived in the same room, but it has to be what we all would deem to be "northern" otherwise you can shove it!! Guest sharmo 1
very strange set up this northern soul thing ,Loughboro' last night great night two rooms small room R-N-B , early soul reggae and ska some fantastic records played in that room last night and that room will develop over the next year or so.Main room was last night oldies and nighter spins , BUT 4 danced to Gwen Owens 4 Danced to the Deadbeats 6 to Robbie Lawson 5 to the Profesionals ect ect so what do people want ? a girl said to me at the bar she prefered real oldies and not "this new stuff " refering to records like I just mentioned .This is why I prefer the small alternative rooms and Modern nights regards Simon. Will never work here, too much baggage and too much emphasis on venues of the past and too few people willing to show some tolerance and patience and open their ears to something new. Not everywhere in Europe is a mixture of genres but those that are don't have the history that holds back the UK Rare Soul Scene, it's simply soul music to them whatever genre and they couldn't care less where fit was first played. There was records played by Arthur last night that are massive in Europe, Butch said you can't get on the floor when they are played, here they clear the floor.
