Guest ScooterNik Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 Has anyone else picked up her debut, 'Blues Ain't Nothing But A Good Woman Gone Bad' on Acid Jazz? Produced by Leonard Chess, she tears through his families back catalogue with great aplomb. I'm loving it, her version of The Kittens "Ain't No More Room" is brilliant. Not entirely Northern Soul by a long chalk, but well worth a listen. IMHO
Perdita Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 Saw the ad for M & Co on TV with Jasmine Kara singing 'Try my love again'..............love it, not heard the album yet, but like the title! Originally by Bobby Moore & The Rhythm Aces, 1966 Perdita
Codfromderby Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 also i believe does a good version ordinary joe
Guest ScooterNik Posted November 25, 2011 Posted November 25, 2011 Not as good as the original for my money, but I've always had a soft spot for Terry Colliers cut anyway. Her version of 'Ain't No More Room' is a blinder, if a little carbon copy-ish (to say the least)
Shinehead Posted November 25, 2011 Posted November 25, 2011 (edited) From what i've heard of Jasmine most of it is very good and uplifting too and the girl can sing her version of the the Terry Callier classic is the poorest track i've heard by her. Love her version of the Little Walter/ Mitty Collier classic My Babe. Edited November 25, 2011 by shinehead
Mick Sway Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 RE:Jasmine Kara "Ain't No More Room" Thought I'd revive this, as I caught "ain't no more room" on Wogan today. Half decent pop effort, was surprised to hear it on teh radio. https://swedishstereo.blogspot.com/2012/01/jasmine-kara-aint-no-more-room.html The Original of course:
