Pete S Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 (edited) https://www.mixcloud....soul-live-tape/ This is the only live recording I have from Cleethorpes Pier, and it’s from it’s peak really, when it’s playlist matched or even surpassed that of any other venue in the country, late 1975 going into 1976. What I love about live tapes is the atmosphere, the clapping which sadly seems to have disappeared over the last two decades, but what makes this Cleethorpes tape special is that you think you are hearing clapping, when in fact it’s the sound of FEET stomping in unison – just listen to So Is The Sun for proof of this…it sounds like they're going to stomp the pier into the sea! Anyway, Cleethorpes 75, the DJ is Pep from Wolverhampton apart from on the last three tracks, not sure who it is that takes over. Enjoy people, enjoy. THE CROW – YOUR AUTUMN OF TOMORROW – INNER EAR THE MATA BABY – DO THE PEARL GIRL – PENNY HANK JACOBS – ELIJAH ROCKIN’ WITH SOUL – CALL ME TAMIKO JONES – I’M SPELLBOUND – GOLDEN WORLD THE EXCITERS – REACHING FOR THE BEST – 20TH CENTURY KEYMEN STRINGS – TRY A LITTLE HARDER – VEEJAY GEORGE BLACKWELL – CAN’T LOSE MY HEAD – SMOKE H.B. BARNUM – HEARTBREAKER – CAPITOL DANNY MONDAY – BABY WITHOUT YOU – MODERN DON VARNER – TEARSTAINED FACE – QUINVY WORLD COLUMN – SO IS THE SUN – TOWER RPM GENERATION – RONA’S THEME – ROMARK DELRAYS INCORPERATED – DESTINATION UNKNOWN – TAMPETE MEL BRITT – SHE’LL COME RUNNING BACK – FIP EVE OF EDEN – PARADE OF A BUNCH OF FOOLS – BUDDAH KING ERRISON – ZOLA – CANYON FRANKIE ‘LOVE MAN’ CROCKER – TON OF DYNAMITE – TURBO BILL BRANDON & LORRAINE JOHNSON – FULL TIME GROOVER - MOONSONG (tape supplied by Andy Rix many moons ago, thought I'd lost it, found it today) Edited October 25, 2011 by Pete S
Guest MrC Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 sure I have a couple of Cleethorpes Tapes from 75/76 that I converted to MP3 and put on a CD with a load of other stuff at home - I'll have to dig them out.

Ian Parker Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 I enjoyed that. before my time,...... but what tunes!!!
scunnyjack Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 Had 10-15 tapes that I had done on my sneaked in Hitachi recorder to Blackpool and Cleethorpes ( Including the very first Pier night ). I made the enormous mistake of throwing away many cassettes including these when given a Company Car with a CD player in.
