PIED PIPER AT THE 100 CLUB Pt2

Following on from our 32nd anniversary debut of the September Jones and Cavaliers tracks, we are proud to announce that new discoveries from the vaults of Pied Piper Productions will be played this Saturday Oct 29th at the all nighter.

New finds include the original version of Tony Hester's 'Just Can't Leave You' Karate 45, it's called 'Love Will Find A Way' by Harry Gates.

There is a different recording of Lorraine Chandler's You Only Live Twice with alternate lyrics, lead vocal and song construction.

Also the original version of 'I Miss My Baby' by Detroit session singer Telma Hopkins recorded a year before Rose Batiste's release with different lyrics and titled 'This Heart Is Lonely' and a stunning Pied Piper instrumental of the recently massive discovery 'Gambler's Blues'.

More finds are imminent but these four in conjunction with the September Jones and Cavaliers, should make it a historical and memorable occasion.

Pied Piper - highly revered productions. Have had the pleasure in meeting Jack Ashford and Joe Hunter. Joe Hunters book is fantastic, short, but fantastic. Ady, why don't you and Kent get some of the Detroit crew back together with Jack and cut some new stuff and prove it can still be done. The talent is there in Detroit just waiting. Get Lorraine on some of the lead vocals, Frances, Pat are still about..yes much older, but imagine! You would own the masters for exploitation whilst giving maybe younger musicians a chance in Detroit to record professionally. I know the studio, some of the musicians and can write reasonable songs and would love to co write with other individuals. Spyders about and that is a talent that should be in the studio 24/7! Get Spider Webb on drums, Ray Monette, Dennis Coffey on guitar, etc...Arranging may be an issue, because you need notation and David J. Van De Pitte sadly passed away. I am sure Jack arranges maybe? I could try electronically and suggest grooves and I am sure it would work. Just let me know when ha ha.........Look at me getting all excited again........

Thanks Carl, a fantastic notion that I've played with many times but it would be very expensive with no guarantee of success and even if it was successful in Northern terms would lose a small fortune. It's the sort of thing a rich person would get a huge buzz from but we're in business in a shrinking market and need to concentrate on what we do best.

Hi Ady, yes, I know....tell me about it. I am teasing tongue in cheek of course, but you never know. Remember, all those 45's I keep seeing mentioned on soul source were dreams of riches and fame by those involved in a different market completely, nevertheless, had they not hoped for success, none would have ever been recorded for us to enjoy today. When I win the lottery...first port of call: Detroit/studio A/ and get the kids involved out there....and try and be creative in a similar vain with a new generation of young aspiring musicians and performers. It might not make money...but sure would be fun!

Can't wait to hear these afore mentioned tracks. The last batch of RCA etc were stunning. Hope that even more can be found.
