Guest adam leaver Posted November 13, 2005 Posted November 13, 2005 As its nearing the festive season and I'm a bit strapped, I thought I'd put up a few medium sized/biggie-ish kind of pieces that you don't really see very often any more. They are mainly funk, but there are 1 or 2 sought after soul pieces: Picks of the week: Clay Hunt - Loves Gone Bad (Bay Sound) I reckon you should all check out this soundclip and tell me what you think. This to me is a great gritty Northern/funk crossover thing with drums well up in the mix and great soulful vocals. Very hard to find too. Sam Dees and Bettye Swann - Just As Sure (Big Tree) the demos with Storybook Children on both sides are pretty easy to find, but this is the track which is only on the issues. Great midtempo modern soul, with nice drum break at the beginning. Great soul T.H.E.M - The Time Is Now (Hawk) great modern soul stepper Jean Wells - What Have I Got To Lose (Calla) definitely going places, this 45. I always get people asking me what this is when I play it out. Brilliant crossover - check the soundclip Crosstown Express - Let Me Try (PeeZee) rare sweet soul ballad to check out all the auctions, click the link below: https://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZrookieQ5f1973 cheers, Rookie
