Crossfire 14 - London Allnighter - Sat 26 September 09

Now in our seventh year the super successful London club night is back on Saturday 26 Septemberfor another rammed night of pure vintage retro partying in epic proportions.

This 1000 capacity venue in the heart of Central London boasts a DJ line-up and live band that will have you dancing from dusk until dawn.

Dance floor detonating DC Fontana celebrate their forthcoming debut album "Six Against Eight" live on stage at Crossfire, unveiling a 21st century psychedelic soul orchestra with special guest appearances. The band invites you to take 14 trips into your art & soul with their fab and compelling sonic sculpture, designed to send your senses spinning. This is music for the head, heart and the Hip. It's a record of real ambition made with deep affection as the DC's much-respected attack of organ, guitars & horns is beautifully enhanced with orchestras & sitars. It's a live show and album you can't afford to miss.....

The Main Ballroom features the pioneers of Northern Soul all under one roof. Russ Winstanley was the main DJ at the legendary 70's venue Wigan Casino. When the crowds got too big on the main danefloor at Wigan they opened a second room and Stoke born and bred Dave Evison was in the original DJ team. Brian Rae goes even further back to the original Northern Soul venue Manchester's Twisted Wheel; it's a real coup to get these three DJs on the same bill. Co-promoter Ady Croasdell from London's 6Ts dances held at the famous 100 Club in Oxford St has just celebrated 30 years of all nighters earlier this month.

The Main Ballroom is hosted by DJ Ady Croasdell of Kent records and 6TS Dances who just celebrated 30 years of Northern Soul dances earlier this month at the 100 club. London's biggest Northern Soul oldies all-nighter features very special guests from the legendary 70's venue Wigan Casino. DJ Russ Winstanley started and finished the world famous Northern Soul All Nighter and broke some of the biggest records ever on the scene. He has written books on those halcyon years, compiled CDs for major record labels including the recent "Beginners Guide To Northern Soul" on Universal. He is now a radio DJ and promoter but mainly the top Northern Soul Oldies DJ from the golden era that he dominated.

Wigan was not only the home of Northern Soul in the 70s, it was the starting place for Northern nostalgia when the crowds got so massive at Wigan that the huge downstairs room could not cram everyone in. They then opened Mr M's upstairs and had Stoke born and bred DJ Dave Evison entertaining the crowds for the next few years. Dave has continued to DJ right through the decades and has worked in music retail as well as radio. Having him and Russ DJing together again is quite a coup.

Big Brian Rae goes back even further than the Wigan days. He first got behind the decks at Manchester's Twisted Wheel and has been a regular face on the Northern scene ever since. He became a legend at clubs in Peterborough, St Ives and Leicester in the 70s and 80s because of his inspiring dancer friendly sets.

Anton Ludwig is an ex-100 Club apprentice, whose enthusiasm and dedication has encouraged so many. He has amassed a considerable collection over the past three decades and will unleash the best of it on the dancers at Crossfire.Val Palmer, 100 Club door girl and resident DJ for many years has collected since the 70s and has an impressive box of 45s that will recall the 100 Club glory years and add some undoubted class to proceedings.

The Beat Room is hosted by the extraordinarily successful Mousetrap all-nighters at Orleans in Finsbury Park (now in their 18th year). Speed of (Circle Records) and Dr Robert of (Le Beat Bespoke) are joined on the decks by an International DJ Line up that will blow your mind. Miguel Yagaza from the Mushroom Machine club in Madrid, Stephan Golowka from Germany's Psychedelic 'Up Club' and Embooks guitar player Alessando Cossi from Italy complete the DJ line-up. Expect maximum fun, gorgeous go-go girls and the primest 60's Beat, Garage, Psych sounds to a backdrop of psychedelic visuals.

London Mod promoters the New Untouchables host the R&B room with authentic Modernist sounds from resident DJ's Roger 'R&B' Banks, Alan Handscombe and co-promoter Rob Bailey. Joined on the decks by very special guests Jim Cox (expect scorching Ska and early Reggae) and Joe Dutton from Northern R&B club 'BackBeat', with Pete Tebbutt from successful Luton venue 'TOTS' completing the bill.

"All the clubs involved are at the leading edge of what they do" says Crossfire co-organiser Ady Croasdell "and people come from all over the country to their gigs. It's a great chance for anyone who is interested in this type of music to check out all the clubs under one roof and see what they have to offer"
