Guest uroffal Posted November 11, 2005 Posted November 11, 2005 Seem to re-call a thread recently describing Butch buying a copy of this cracker. Does anyone know if he's playing or plans to re-activate it ... it'd be mighty nice to know (sorry I couldn't resist it - I'll get me coat)

Pete S Posted November 11, 2005 Posted November 11, 2005 Does that mean everybody's got to like it now and triple the price?
Steve G Posted November 11, 2005 Posted November 11, 2005 Does that mean everybody's got to like it now and triple the price? Smart people have always liked it Pete - classic WIgan 'ard sound. And it's pretty tricky to locate too - such a relief that £35 of hard earned wonga secured me a copy from old Johnny M all those years ago

Steve G Posted November 11, 2005 Posted November 11, 2005 'bout £34.50 more than mine Steve tho' guess there might be a slight difference 'tween the 2 copies Dave - You got the bootleg right?

Anyway it was a Yate record. But I'm not saying it's no good, it's a great record, and I've only had one copy ever!

Guest Dan Posted November 11, 2005 Posted November 11, 2005 got one years ago for about a tenner off mick smith, i think, here's a brief clip for anyone who can't call it to mind is it that hard?? also, am i the only one who (if i was a dj) would basically not play anything butch/any other big dj was playing precisely because it would be like wearing a neon sign saying 'clueless'?

Probably half the scene's problem that Dan and is what makes Butch stand out. He recognises that this is, as Pete has already mentioned, a record that you'd have missed if you'd blinked when 'new' and has had precious little exposure since - so ripe for re-activation. Far too many DJs playing the same records from what I've seen on playlists - plenty of other great records out there both 'new' and old that DJs should be looking for (that's why they are DJs - or should be why).

Yeah, probably a three week period during which I went twice, hence it's lasting memory for me. We never really did Yate (once or twice only) - due to difficulty of getting there - hence I remember it as a Wigan Record....anyway - glad you like it. Me too.

Me too. always had it down as bit more wider known as in was bigger, supppose maybe case of different areas and the such at time didnt really push all the buttons for me, think at time considered it dreary northern , be interesting hearing how it sounds out in 2005 as one imo at home doesnt really do justice
pikeys dog Posted November 14, 2005 Posted November 14, 2005 Sounded good when it was played Saturday night at Steam. Think it was Keith Williams that played it.
