NORTHERN SOUL @ THE PLINSTON! - MAY 7TH REPORT
Thought Id take the time to write what I hope will judged a fair report on last nights event, having recieved feedback from around 30 or so members, and to answer the questiosn that were raised. The turnout was approx 400 and The Ghetto! was superb, rammed to capacity (and beyond!), a fantastic atmosphere and a truly BANGING night had by all. The choice of music was out of this world, with Taffy, Nathan and in particular Soul Sam, Arthur Fenn and Dave Welding doing blinding spots. The Mojo Room saw its dancefloor busier than ever before and again a good cross section of toons was well recieved by all who ventured into The Little Room With The Big Sound. Now, onto the Main Hall, which according to the feedback was really only 50/50 recieved due to the catalogue of problems we had on the night, which I will try and address all the questions raised now. It started off great and looked set to be as blinding as The Ghetto! but we were hit by a number of sound problems in a row: deck channels going down on us meaning having to resort to the standy-by mode with slightly less output, a mixing deck that decided AT THE SAME MOMENT to go down on us causing the drop in sound quality we experienced thoughout Arthur and Daves sets (that tinny sound in case you were wondering) and a number of smaller problems that we did get sorted after time.
To be honest it was a chance in a million that all 5 things would occur on the same night at the same time but it did and our apologises for that. The Security were dealing with an incident outside in one of the neighbouring car parks and hence the reason why we had a problem with spillage not being mopped up and dealt with as quickly as it should have been. We had even invested in a new techno way of absorbing and drying out spillage quickly which we didnt get a chance to try out.
So, in short, in the Main Hall we were hit by a number of seperate problems that in themselves would have been dealt with quickly and no-one would have been the wiser but due to them all occuring either at the same time or in quick succession meant that it did cause us problems. So, to reassure those that have called us and to all members and friends alike, we will be having a meeting with the Plinston management this week to sort out a more rapid response to spillage, upgrade the sound system to eliminate any potential future problems as experienced last night and to get the club back on the right track again. Our sincere apologises to any members whose enjoyment was tempered by events and we hope that this one-off clitch in the usual smooth running of the Plinston will not be held against us and that we may welcome everyone back on July 2nd to a Main Hall free of problems. With all that said we have recieved many calls and emails from people saying what a great night they had and just how great The Ghetto! was and we are grateful for the calls of support and understanding.
Any comments are always greatfully recieved, not just binned!!!, and can be sent marked for the attention of: TheBigO at nh6tsmafia@aol.com.
