Guest Baz
Perhaps you can remember better than me, but I would have associated PP more with Cleggy than Wigan Yes its commercial, but it was popular to dance to. Thats what used to happen at NS events before the right wingers decided it was better to stand around nodding politely to "smooth" mid-tempo records Bloody good thread....where's Col? Like it was yeasterday I was mearly refering to said and poopy era....As i for one glad there is a sertain 'snobbery' about gets the quality IMO better.................and you should know for well i would be up dancing to 'smooth' mid tempo records Link to comment Social source share
Soulsmith
Both George Hobson & Oxford Nights are absolute garbage. Paula Parfitt is a quirky but good pop record. Jan Jones loved it for 20 years Link to comment Social source share

You must've turned right on the M6 and ended up in Moss Side's Reno Club , got hooked on reggae (10 years too late coz we used to listen to that Sca stuff when we were little skin heads) and missed all the good , proper black music Pete. You don't need me to tell what's good about it - you either got it or you haven't mate Don't you DARE complain about the Ascots! Come on, Another Day is just the absolute cream of the crop. jocko
What's the defintion of a " soul snob " Pete ? Pete-S dictionary says a soul snob is anyone who expects a soul record to sound remotely soulful, allegedly. Oops forgot to add George Lemons for a record that I hate but seems to be popular with some people with otherwise good taste. And don't get me started about the snobbery alienating people... especially newcomers! Some would say the snobbery has kept the scene decent, and its when the snobbery is overwritten that you get a scene not worth having, I take it you would prefer a scene full of passers by that wont hang around? As Dan said on another thread (sortof, excuse me for paraphrasing you Dan) we dont think we are better than non soul fans, we know. Jock Link to comment Social source share
