Dave Thorley Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 Hi Guys www.topdogrecords.co.uk Here's the deal, on offer is the un-released Bell Sound Acetate of Herman Hitson - Why not me/Show some sign. No master tapes for these tracks remain, as far as Herman knows. I purchased this acetate directly from Herman 10 years ago. I would suggest that anyone buying this get a carver cut to play, so preserving the original. Condition... This is in VG condition, a liitle back ground noise and the lacquer is lifting in a couple of places on the run in on 'Why not me', but the play grooves are all intact. 'Show some sign' is not as good VG-, with 8 tiny silver spots showing through on the play area, so it does have a slight skip near the intro, but otherwise plays through no skips. Sound file with both sides is on my site, anyone intersted contact me to discuss further, but I am looking for around £1200 for this. Those that have heard this out will testify to this being one of his greatest records, his killer soulful vocals, great guitar work, a legendary crossover masterpiece. Below is the Youtube video I put up od 'Why not me' 1

This is a slice of soul music history. Dave
Garethx Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 So much better than the released version by Freddie Terrell, which in itself is pretty great. This is phenomenal! 1
Corbett80 Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 Truly beautiful - should go to a good home, shame it won't be mine
Steve G Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 Dave, Is this the same acetate as Sam had in his box the other week?
Dave Thorley Posted October 18, 2011 Author Posted October 18, 2011 As you all say, he has one of the truely amazing voices, soulful, but gritty it's a shame he didn't record more over all the years he has been in the game. As an aside, Freddie is a very close friend of his and he gave the song to him free, to help him out.
Marc Forrest Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 yeah, always liked it since I first heard it one sunny afternoon some years ago at your place...
Dave Thorley Posted October 18, 2011 Author Posted October 18, 2011 Thanks for all the interest shown, but now SOLD, SOLD and going to a good home.
