Guest gordon russell Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 i prefare not to list my records (but i do) i find it all a little sad like folks that write demo after the label ... also ive had one guy looking at one of my lists as i seen his name at the bottom of the page i rememberd he was on with me at the next wknd at another club . i asked the promotor on the night was i on first he said yes . with ten minuets to go promotor is back saying the guy has just asked to go on first .making some excuse he went on and then played 3quarters of the set i played the week before . dont ask me why i have no idear or maybe it was just that he had the same records anyway but i wasnt happy thats for sure play lists prove nothing best way to catch fakes out ......ask them where they got there records from ! playlists to me are in the main about the persons ego......like to show the world what records they have even down to wether it,s a demo or not errr!! whats that about (request ).....again playlists usually tell me where not to go........Another thing have heard prople say they don,t like this club or that especially clubs that don,t do playlists.......but they constantly ask "what they playing there"....and they only want a playlist so they can buy stuff played at said venue....even though they think the place is crap......NO PLAYLISTS.....IF YA WANNA KNOW......THEN GO!!!
Popular Post Russ Vickers Posted October 15, 2011 Popular Post Posted October 15, 2011 All this business about what is considered to be an original or a legitimate play is just a red herring, anyone who DJ's knows the criteria inside out, if ya dont, then you shouldnt be DJing. Same goes for promoters. Its something that shouldnt have to be debated, you just know.....unfortunately extremists within both camps have made it an issue to some. Russ 4

Russ Vickers Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 You play boots & pressings cos you have no integrity but need an excuse.........anyone would prefer to play off the original vinyl/format if they could find em, afford em (in some cases)or could be arsed to do some serious crate digging & research.....you see, its simple, dont av em dont DJ, just wannabes who cant step up to the plate, so have created this weird world were this sh*t is ok & anyone who doesnt agree is ridiculed or villanised....... I repeat, the debate should not have to take place, its down to the boot players trying to justify themselves, I'm the worst for it, but really these people should be ignored when posting there ridiculous comments....... Russ Vickers Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 I know the guy buys & plays boots, its just a feeble attempt at a wind up to create the smoke n mirrors, zzzzzzzzz its hilarious, just passing my Saturday night in Baghdad winding these clowns up...........cos if I wasnt in Baghdad I'd be on my way to a Nighter to do it, not gob off about it. Russ
Chalky Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 Nothing lol cut the off topic please and stick to what the topic is about, there are plenty of topics about boots. As said this is about if you play originals and at what venue. Now if you do play boots then say what venue then members can choose whether to attend or not.

Well sir I personally dont have my own venue but when I do go out and people are desperate for a DJ they ring me up because all the other top DJ'S are busy I do try to play OVO or whatever they call it nowadays it was just 7 inch in my day yes I do have some boots slowly but surely I am getting more OVO or whatever its called nowadays please forgive me for I am only a baby and it takes time and money not like years ago when you could pick stuff up for a shilling. P.s. anybody got any soulsounds uk boots I am trying to complete the run lol.

Russ I don't know why it is so cloak and dagger for the boot players .....when they play out they are playing in front of a crowd.Anyone can walk up to the decks and look at their records. What's the difference in coming on here saying I play boots i dj at..........There's been plenty of simple one line answers from the original players.......I play originals i dj at but not many boot players.Maybe there's not as many boots being played as I thought.

Paul Shirley Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 Couple of my play lists where in pictures of actual records played, proves they where real if nothing else !! yes thats fair comment and admirable , but some boots are very convincing without having the record in your hand . however i do like the idear of the camera over the decks where ever that was i dont know but is a great idear i think
Guest Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 I take my hat off.You are the first on here to say you play boots and just out of interest is it the big money items that are the boots?.Where do you deejay then? Ha ha I knew you would ask me that Well when I say I play boots out not all the time I try to play proper jobs and not big money items as such I suppose second issues I have played out lee roye tears on a uk issue rather than the us issue which if I can I will try and get on a demo because I like uk demos. I know a lot of people dont agree with playing uk issues because there not the real deal but I like em.
KevH Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 re: playlists.I've always said its a double edged sword.Posting a playlist can give,or take away, credibilty. If its a good playlist,it should attract people to the venue. Some promoters like the idea. Some don't want one posting, for the reasons stated by Terry.Always ask the promoter, if you want to post a playlist up. Adding WDJ or whatever doesn't bother me at all.Better than no labels, leaving a question mark over originality? After all, that's what most arguments on here are about,ie: this thread.

Blunny Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 I have dj'd as a regular at Orrell Soul Club for the last 2 years and as a guest at a number of other North West venues and always play original records. I would never buy anything else other than an original record. There are 1000's and 1,000's of original records out there that I will never own but fortunately, I know of the Dj's that do own them and will pay the door charge to support them and the venues they play at. Isn't the real issue about the playing of boots at venues more a case of whether the promoter or DJ's knowingly do it with the intention of attracting unsuspecting punters to their venue for financial reasons? And the knock-on effects that it has for other venues that don't? Don't shoot me, it's only a question!!! 1
Phild Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 100% original vinyl for me. And also for anyone who DJ's for me at Bradford Niter. Phil 1
