Guest Posted November 6, 2005 Posted November 6, 2005 (edited) Many will already be aware of my love for boy bands... Tempests are right up there with my other male vocal gods. The lead singers voice is like honey dripping over a pnuematic drill - it just oozes emotion, passion, lust... I guess, my favourite track has to be Ain't No Big Thing - from the opening drums to the following winds only serves to support this amazing vocal group to make them mahooosively amazing. A tale of up's and down's. A story of get on with it springs to mind - shame he gave up so soon I wouldn't have LOL. Come on... share me your Tempest tantilisers Here's mine! Simsy Posted November 6, 2005 Posted November 6, 2005 OH HOW I HATE RA FILES... that aside, it's no way even near as good at the Tempests.. you must have lost your PMA to think it's better than the Tempests Agreed. Have the Jimmy James - New Religion LP with his version, vocal not in same league as Tempests. My Tempests top 3 would be; 1. I cried for you 2. Someday 3.What you gonna do
Soulsmith Posted November 6, 2005 Posted November 6, 2005 sorry just played j james again , no contest imhp (whats a PMA ?) Positive Mental Attitude.
Guest Posted November 6, 2005 Posted November 6, 2005 sorry just played j james again , no contest imhp (whats a PMA ?) PMA? Positive mental attitude, that's what that is I'll see you on the dance floor where we shall put this arguement to bed
Guest Posted November 6, 2005 Posted November 6, 2005 Positive Mental Attitude. Col.. you're on my wavelength
Sebastian Posted November 7, 2005 Posted November 7, 2005 (edited) The Radiants original hit version is without a doubt my fave. Proper mid-tempo, characteristic Chicago soul. In my opinion, The Tempests take on it is too messy and the Jimmy James has got annoying girl backing vocals. Loads of versions of "Ain't No Big Thing" out there and apparently a very influential track. As far as a Tempests Top-3, here goes: 1: Can't Get You Out Of My Mind 2: What You Gonna Do 3: I Don't Want To Lose Her Top group! Edited November 7, 2005 by Sebastian

ShorterSoul Posted November 7, 2005 Posted November 7, 2005 Hi, I'm Jon from Essex - been a frequent visitor on the site but only recently registered, thought it was about time I got my first post in - re the Tempests LP, there's a copy on Smash currently on ebay (7 hours to go) and its only $8 - gotta be a bargain! https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/THE-TEMPEST-Would-Yo...1QQcmdZViewItem I've also got a copy on a blue phillips label, I think it's Dutch.. anyone know it's current value? Cheers
Guest Posted November 7, 2005 Posted November 7, 2005 Love "What you gonna do" Trouble is too fast to dance to, my lungs would give up on me.
Mak Posted November 7, 2005 Posted November 7, 2005 Soulgirl, Codfromderby you're both right. The song itself is one if not my all time favourite song but my top three versions are -- RADIANTS SCOTTY TODD TEMPESTS What a awesome sound
Guest Posted November 7, 2005 Posted November 7, 2005 I remember we did all the "Known" versions of "Ain't No Big Thing" around 14 years ago on this very site, think there were over a thousand on last count........No idea where on the site that post is, and can't be arsed to go and find it.... Ps..Radiants everytime.......Got to be honest but the more i listen to the Tempests Lp on Smash, the less i like it.
Chalky Posted November 7, 2005 Posted November 7, 2005 There are quite a few versions of Ain't No Big Thing. Best version IMO is Jordan Brothers.....old Rob Marriott spin
Guest Posted November 7, 2005 Posted November 7, 2005 The record posted above, Do You Belive, the cover of it has 10 men stood there... is that how many were in the group? Or am I being completely thick (as usual)

I have Jordan Brothers but I'm on laptop right now so can't post it.
Guest Posted November 7, 2005 Posted November 7, 2005 Well, Hazel Martin has a beautiful voice indeed. When you have the chance can you let me hear it chalky?
