Kris Holmes Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 How many have the same label style as that Precisions 45? I've not seen that before.
Premium Stuff Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 (edited) How many have the same label style as that Precisions 45? I've not seen that before. Quite a few of the early ones have that design in various different colours Dee Edwards #1024 #1031, Armand Kay #1028, Don Heart #1030, Cody Black #1032 Cheers Richard Edited October 9, 2011 by Premium Stuff
Premium Stuff Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 (edited) This one is interesting as it shares the same number as the Hesitations release Decent early sounding double-sider Pretty sure I have seen this as a DJ Copy also - anyone confirm please? Cheers Richard Edited October 12, 2011 by Premium Stuff
Premium Stuff Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 Very hard to locate this one Quite like the track too - although not the strongest on the label Cheers Richard
Premium Stuff Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 (edited) Great Fab Peps release on a WDJ Of course there are two different mixes of this - the 219 mix the best. The other is much rarer - contrary to what it says in Manship's guide. Cheers Richard Edited October 12, 2011 by Premium Stuff
Premium Stuff Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 (edited) Here's an issue with the 689 mix As the Peps rather than the Fabulous Peps - plus the other side song title is mis-spelt Cheers Richard Edited October 9, 2011 by Premium Stuff

Cheers Richard Agreed, although I prefer the 689 mix, took me ages to get hold of it after having and sold the 219 one(several times). Never seen a demo of that (689) anyone? Guest Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 A few more...I'm sure we could do the entire label run if everyone dug deep!
Guest Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 Quite a few of the early ones have that design in various different colours Dee Edwards #1024 #1031, Armand Kay #1028, Don Heart #1030, Cody Black #1032 #1029 Lee Rogers...orange label Sadly all these early numbers are lo-fi...I particularly like Don Heart's 'Don't Give In' ...on a light blue label.
Kris Holmes Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 (edited) that Lee Rogers "I Want You To Have Everything" was the first I ever got on this label. Edited October 10, 2011 by Kris Holmes

Agree My lover Come Back is the better side of the Precisions double sider. Also got the hard to find Cody Black - These Chains Of Love (1032) on a orange label similar to Lee Rogers (1029) Regards Paul
Citizen P Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 That Silky Hargraves must have been a good seller, almost every copy I've seen( inc. mine) is battered... Fantastic tune but. Tony
Guest Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 Good grief...totally forgot I picked this up a month or so ago. Old 100 Club screamer, although fair to say it may not be a 100% Detroit production? 1

Old 100 Club screamer, although fair to say it may not be a 100% Detroit production? Hi Dave Yes, isn't that a West Coast project bought in and released on the label? Also, wasn't Roosvelt Grier a pro football or baseball player - or am I getting confused with someone else? Cheers Richard
Premium Stuff Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 Here's a decent double-sider by Jackie & Tonetts - who also recorded on Wheel City which was part of the same group of labels. Cheers Richard

Cheers Richard Probably the same guy who played football for the New York Giants and recorded on several labels over the years also starred in films and tv series including the Man From Uncle also had his own TV series and is now or was a Minister.

Premium Stuff Posted November 12, 2011 Posted November 12, 2011 (edited) Dimensions - Little Lotta Lou/He's A Lover - D-Town 1038 For some reason many D-Town discographies list 'Little Lotta Lou' as a track entitled 'The Dimensions'. Actually, that was just how it was originally listed in Rod Dearlove's - A Collector's Guide to Detroit and later in Chris Moores' - Soul Express Detroit special from the mid 1980s. Does this exist on issue? Here are both sides. Cheers Richard Edited November 12, 2011 by Premium Stuff
Guest Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 (edited) ...I particularly like Don Heart's 'Don't Give In' ...on a light blue label. Found this a few months back...never seen a WD of this one before...stockers are light blue...so does that mean that there are demos for all the other early numbers on this design...a Precisions WD would be nice! Guest Dave Turner Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 (edited) Roger Brown of the Detroit Lions had a part share in D-Town. He comes in here and introduces the Lil Soul Brothers Well worth watching both all the way through as they are so funny. Edited January 4, 2013 by Dave Turner

Premium Stuff Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 Roger Brown of the Detroit Lions had a part share in D-Town. He comes in here and introduces the Lil Soul Brothers Well worth watching both all the way through as they are so funny. Seen these before - but good to see them again Dave - thanks What's funny about them then I think they are pretty talented given their age - although they do go out of tune a bit every now and again Where are they now - anyone know? Cheers Richard
Tony Smith Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 Did he not also do a stint as Robert Kennedys bodyguard.. Or is that Urban Myth ?? Tony That is true, he was present when Bobby Kennedy was shot.
