JOE TORQUAY
repeat: repeat no-repeat; "> Summits I'll Never Say No Utterly delicious and simply the finest vocal group auction listing of the year so far. This copy is PERFECT in ever respect. Listen to this Maryland Monster and bathe in the beauty that is vocal-group-harmony crossover Northern Soul at it’s very. very best! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 644.00 repeat no-repeat; "> Velvelettes Lonely Lonely Girl Am I a beautifully clean example of this highly-coveted TMG 521, this copy is a clean as you could hope for. We’ll let the label scan & the sound file do the rest.. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 194.00 repeat: repeat no-repeat; "> David & Ruben (i Love Her So Much) It Hurts Me First label - white demo a 1968 Los Angeles first crediting of the David and Ruben which emerged on Warner Bros in 1969 - slightly inferior and re-mixed. This is of course the 1965 recording of the much-loved Northern Soul classic first credited to the Majestics on Linda in September 1965. All you need to know from a NS collecting perspective is, you are viewing by far and away the rarest format you could ever hope to own of this wonderfully uplifting vocal-group Northern Soul anthem. This excruciatingly rare PROMOis just immaculate! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 294.00 Barrett Strong Misery WOW! last month we thought we were highly fortunate to be able to auction a vg+ copy of this “Don Juan Mancha” Popcorn Giant currently getting strongNS action! As expected it sparked off serious auction rumpous and ran well into overtime as ownership was fought over. Before you today, we kid you not, is an astonishingly Mint - copy, sporting “as new” vinyl and two totally perfect labels - we are genuinely awestruck at the condition and this 50 year old 7”. For the Motown “nut” the flipside “Two Wrongs Don’t Make A Right” is the extremely rare alternative H699 mix. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 255.00 Edited September 28, 2011 by JOE TORQUAY Link to comment Social source share
JOE TORQUAY
Steve Mancha Steve Mancha I Need To Be Needed Totally fabulous example of Motor City master @ work. Glorious mid-tempo and a Northern Soul delight - created in exactly the same vein as all his great Groovesville recordings - Detroit aficionados will be quick to point out this came out on Groovesville 1002 - today, you are viewing the authentic original 10” studio acetate of that wonderful - but thus far overlooked recording. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 42.00 "> Frank Beverly & The Butlers If That's What You Wanted C/w Love (your Pain Goes Deep) Where were you when you first heard this Philadelphia NS masterpiece? I was at Kirby Lane Youth Club Melton Mowbray, circa 1972, when Trevor Hurd had just acquired a bootleg acetate along with Lenis Guess “Just Ask Me” the ensuing 2 minutes 20 seconds of magic had such an effect on me, I still remember that special Friday evening of Nolan Chance, Frank Beverly, Lenis Guess, Otis Smith - two acetates and Trev was King for a month. Those were the days - Today Frankie sounds every bit as impressive as he did back then - this is the significantly rarer GAMBLE copy in really fine condition. A shiny gold “CHIPS” Promo sticker on the flipside label. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 351.00 > Solomon Burke Cry To Me C/w I Almost Lost My Mind Condition! Condition! Condition! An iconic soul trophy released in England in 1962 - this copy looks like it was release yesterday! Perfectionists you’ll be mighty pleased with the flawless vinyl and labels to match! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 117.00 Marty Lewis I Can't Do Without You C/w Don't Leave Me Baby A sleeper poised to wake! It’s been quite some time since we’ve seen this New Orleans double-testament of Isaac Bolden’s writing and producing talents. Topside is strong punchy on-the-money Northern Soul, with the flipside dropping a pace as Isaac B. adds in an “Impressions” style vocal-group to back up Marty’s growling vocal. Two superb examples of the street-level Soul the city was creating during the 60s. Today in 2011 you don’t need us to tell you why vinyl in the Carnival town is now near impossible to acquire. Snapping these Katrina-vinyl-orphans up as soon as they become available - is sound collecting advice. Sorry, this item has already been won! JOE TORQUAY
Volcanos Gotta Be A False Alarm C/w Movin' & Groovin' This stomping 60s Philly rarity was on every Northern Soul collectors lips last month - as the auction price shot through the roof - blowing away or previous conceptions of value. One click of the sound will reveal why the bidding-stampede took place - this is absolutely killer vocal-group Northern Soul of the highest calibre. This copy has near perfect value - a promoters sticker a circled E on the label - see scan - then listen and prepared to dance! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 208.00 "> Jimmy Wallace I'll Be Back Some rare soul records carry that elusive quality that will remain with the listener for life. This Jerry Williams Philadelphia project sits in that category. A seamless session that showcases an effortless soul crooner just strolling through a mountainous production, projecting an effortless vocal that will surely capture your soul…if you have “soul” this 45 will certainly effect you with it’s “Simple is genius” approach. LOVE IT! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 611.00 > Torques Bumpin C/w Have Mercy Hang On! This Lexington, Kentucky artifact is about to take you on a bumpy ride through 60s FUNK and Boogaloo fusion! With few, if any comparable offerings, utilizing out of control horns, finger-licking hammond and an individualistic saxophonist who just carried away with it all. This 45 Kicks Ass in the best possible way - and is so very very difficult to find! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 163.00 Dobie Gray See You At The "go Go" Before the discovery of Dobie Gray’s import only “Out On The Floor” that sits at the summit of the “All-Time-Classic” hill, this offering was the rare disc that had The Twisted Wheel shakin’ straight into the English MODS hearts. The serious British Soul vinyl collector will certainly take this offering to his heart - not only is the rarely if ever seen DEMO but it’s an astonishing “as new” condition! Mint - is being highly critical. A finer copy of the PROMO would be, we think, impossible to find! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 74.00 Edited September 28, 2011 by JOE TORQUAY Link to comment Social source share
JOE TORQUAY
Maxine Brown I Wanna Guarantee Another British collectors MUST-OWN. A recent auction listing of anotherTRIDENT acetate of the wonderful - Melba Moore - Magic Touch - caused wide interest. This offering is not only, note for note as captivating for the Northern Soul dancer as it’s predecessor - this acetate carries the extra-added bonus of NOT being issued as a 7” in any format - this acetate was cut in 1984 for a handful of selected DJ and only issued by KENT as a track on the Maxine Brown LP “LIKE NEVER BEFORE” also long deleted. Check out - what a spectacular example of girl-vocal Northern Soul this is. Exceptional is not to strong a word - so rare it’s near to being exclusive! Sorry, this item has already been won! I think there's one up here right now, and craig moerer if not others has it on ebay right now. it *was* a very hard record to find at least. maybe once all the copies that are coming out now are gone it will be hard to find again?
