Guest Phil Armstrong Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 Having a camcorder projecting one of the turntables onto a screen in each room at the recent Derby Assembly Rooms Allnighter . May do it again if it was of interest, was this a welcome addition or shall I order a straightjacket? Cheers Phil
Pete S Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 They used to do that at the Rocket, apparently looked great
Guest Matt Male Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 They used to do that at the Rocket, apparently looked great They used to show the record going on, then showed archive footage of the singer (if they had any) and label scans during the record. Yes it did look good. Gave the non-dancers something to look at.

Dave Rimmer Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 I thought it was a great idea, and had great fun working my set so that I could play a white demo on the left hand deck everytime
Little-stevie Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 Maybe not the same buzz if dj was playing white cardbord cover ups.. Nice idea, would stop the boooooooooooooooooooot alert maybe also
Winnie :-) Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 They used to show the record going on, then showed archive footage of the singer (if they had any) and label scans during the record. Yes it did look good. Gave the non-dancers something to look at. Besides Ian?
Geeselad Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 shouls be compulsary at nighters, top idea!
purist Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 It was done at the last but one Stafford Reunion/Anniversary, the one in Stoke, Queens Hall was it ? For those who care what the labels look like it was a fantastic idea, but as already mentioned, in certain quarters the sales of colourful label scans might increase
Jumpinjoan Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 I absolutely loved it! The only criticism I had was that there wasn't a camera on both decks! More of it that's what I say.
Citizen P Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 Know Ste's been thinking about doing it at Heywood, maybe this'll give him the kick up the arras he needs....... :D . T
Spacehopper Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 good idea if you dont know the tune but dont wanna stop dancin to go and ask the dj what it is!...providing you can see it before it starts to spin ofcourse dean
Guest MrC Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 They used to do that at a lot of big clubs and rave events 10-15 years ago, Mezzanine in Wolverhampton always did it. I thought it was a great idea then, and still do, perfect for Northern do's methinks.
Guest Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 (edited) I absolutely loved it! The only criticism I had was that there wasn't a camera on both decks! More of it that's what I say. I would have liked to have seen it on both decks, to see what the next track up was, but it was big enough for eveyone to see, Great adds to the fun. Edited September 28, 2011 by Guest
soulsalmon Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 Know Ste's been thinking about doing it at Heywood, maybe this'll give him the kick up the arras he needs....... :D . T do you not think thats a bit high tech for Steve
Len Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 (edited) Yep, agree - Great idea. Len. Edited September 28, 2011 by LEN
Guest Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 The only criticism I had was that there wasn't a camera on both decks! More of it that's what I say. We also have a camera trained on the decks at the collectors night over here...who ever passes the camera as the record is about to end rotates it on its tripod to then point at the next disc...fun for all! The image appears on the huge flat-screen TV hung on the wall...its great!
Ted Massey Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 I absolutely loved it! The only criticism I had was that there wasn't a camera on both decks! More of it that's what I say. the other one was for the boots
Guest RichEvans Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 sounds good to me, agree, saves running up to decks between dancing
Ian Seaman Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 great idea, i did try and get the Bridlington boys to go with the idea as they have 2 massive screens either side of the stage which would have looked great showing both decks !! Ian.
Tabs Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 I thought it was brilliant and really enjoyed watching the vinyl spinning.
Guest Matt Male Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 Besides Ian? We did get a shot of Dale Winton at one point. I think it was the night all the cameras were in.
Chalky Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 It was a great idea and had plenty of comments about it on the night......I used the deck with no camera for cover ups The quality was really good though and as said no need to go running to the decks.
Chalky Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 They used to show the record going on, then showed archive footage of the singer (if they had any) and label scans during the record. Yes it did look good. Gave the non-dancers something to look at. They used I think the Beat Shows and that 3 dvd set of soul singer footage that came out around that time.
Winnie :-) Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 We did get a shot of Dale Winton at one point. I think it was the night all the cameras were in. A clip of it was on liquid news at one time.........
