I've had a sound file of a song called Clock on the Wall for a few yrs, 60s girl sound, poss white. I noticed there was an old refo soul link on SS, now not working, 2 wendy andrews. As I'm not sure of the rules about posting sound files, can any1 give me any info.

Cheers,

Steve.

I have an original Bell Sound acetate of a song with this title, and it had passed through the hands of several soulies before I got it, so it could well be the one. From memory it's a Rose Marie McCoy song but who the actual singer is I'm not sure, think Pete Smith had a sound file of it on one of his compilations, or that could be BS, and it could have been another person entirely ;-) hope this helps

Great track, I just remember getting it on a tape with no info whatsoever, I called it Wendy Andrews because that was the name of my girlfriend (and soon to be ex-wife), and it was on a CD I put out of ultra rare tracks at the end of the 90s'. Never knew who had the original until now. Coincidentally, I got a record by a 'real' Wendy Andrews a few years back.

I'm glad I got that part right about it being on one of your comps Pete, I worry I'm losing my ability to accurately remember anything these days so that's pleased me no end.

When I ran the first Northern Soul SwapMeet it got played on the decks and I heard it and thought "WOW", played loud it sounded fantastic. Mistakenly I thought it was already sold so sulked pretty much the whole day. Some time later I found out that it hadnt actually been sold when I heard it, I must have misunderstood what was said to me, but Mick Holdsworth had bought it. It took me some years but eventually I ended up with it. From memory it has RMCoy name either written or typed on it, so whenever I used to play it in venues that's exactly what I called it, not so much a cover up name but a way of identifying it for future requests ( and it did indeed draw some requests)

I have a record by a "real" wendy andrews, pretty nice unknown midtempo cut with male group backing called "my man is gone"

Dark blue label? If so, same as the one I had.

Ta 4 the info!

@purist: Am I allowed 2 post an mp3, if so, although the quality is not 100%, I'll put it up.

@Pete S: Remember, a bachelor is a man who didnt make the same mistake once.

Cheers,

Steve.

Losing a wife can be hard. In my case it was almost impossible
