Little Stanley

The Stran C/w Wanted

One of three releases Ricky Vance’s Oakland, California label did with Stanley Lippit; every single gives up potent and purely relentless horn-driven Northern Soul. This examples sits in the middle of the 3, in the most-valuable and most wanted league. But for me personally, Vance’s rip roaring horn section perfectly complimented by Little Stanley’s “rodeo” vocal style makes this offer mine and many other people’s Little Stanley’s finest 45. with the bonus of Bay Area Deep Soul as the flip - some rare record this is!

High Keys

Living A Lie C/w Let's Take A Chance

By now every will know the topside as a timeless Northern Soul classic and most-everyone will be heralding the flipside as one of the finest Big City vocal-group Beat Ballads. The power of the flip is quite staggering, but personally I’m more staggered by the amazing MINT - condition and it’s the so seldom seen BLACK stock copy - two awesome sides from the desk of George Kerr in it’s very, very rarest format.

Joe Perkins

Runaway Slave

WARNING don’t listen to it twice - you’ll find yourself loving a Northern Soul style you never ever though you would. This ultra-rare Musicor promo sits firmly in the Big City Popcorn R&B style! You can’t help but like it - it’s full of charm n’ power - as Joe Perkin’s projectile-warble deliciously surfs a full-on brass and string production. This 45 is so very darn rare I can’t even remember the last we had for sale.

Ducky And The Glowlighters

Over & Over

You are viewing one seriously rare 45 - This is only our 2nd. copy ever of this pumping Philadelphia project! But who cares how rare it is, anything that gives off this amount of energy, securely harnessed by an accomplished vocal-group, delivering a torrential street-corner symphony entwined into a thumpin’ foot-to-the-floor Northern Soul production is a must-own, must DJwith. THIS IS NORTHERN SOUL this is DOG-RARE NORTHERN SOUL!!

Track Down C/w Welcome Home

A current MONSTER as yet another killer tune emerges from the Lenny LaCour factory of fabulous Soul recordings. This is perhaps the labels rarest 45 and is currently sitting at the very top of DJ wish list and spins. A click of the soundfile will not only leave you breathless, but also have you begging the question where has this tune been hiding for the last 40 years. Totally Real-Deal Northern Soul thumper, with a huge exclusive pedigree and the essential quality of being a NOW SOUND of true rarity! Bonus - Deep Soul fans you’ll die when you hear the flipside!!

Take It All This Time C/w Love Me Forever

Does SOUL get any finer than this utterly awesome tune? If it does, tell me, tell me, because today this record sent me to a place I’ve not been to for quite some time. The place that the first great soul experience took us all to, at sometime or other; nailing the Soul Boy / Girl to a lifelong quest seeking the long hidden mood-changing treasures. For me this 45 is the STAND-OUTsoul-trip of the year so far. If that wasn’t enough the flip is a mighty fine dance record also - but it just pales against the brilliance of “Take It All This Time” - listen and be prepared for a thought-provoking masterpiece.

Please Don't Go

A sultry and totally alluring example of Sister Big City Sound! 1964 Victor Millrose project that manages to fuse the big production with a beckoning vocal you’ll find irresistible. The “Brill Building” style arrangement incorporates the “Stand By Me” instrumentation that bubbles away to reach boiling point as the kettle drums and girl-group backing lifts this recording into greatness. You can not help but be absolutely enthralled by the whole thing. Please note this 45 is the near impossible to find PERFECT condition, perhaps the only way to listen to this lusting vocal…

Thermo-jet

And now for something completely different!! The new collectible “dance” genre that seems to be decorating the internet at the moment goes under the curious name of “The Titty-Shaker” - wow this certainly would cause exactly that phenomena - a truly wild instrumental on the obscurest label you could ever wish to encounter. If your gonna “titty-shake” you got do it to something really RARE! This Redondo Beach, California early 60s private press will have you wishing you were at that Beach the day they play it!

Olympics

The Same Old Thing C/w I'll Do A Little Bit More

WHITE DEMO collectors and fans of Mirwood our data reveals this is one hell of a tough promo to acquire. So when a MINTER pops out of unfiled stock - how pleased are we - especially as BOTH sides are currently soaring high on the play lists of Oldies and upfront DJ’s. A side is of course a classic Northern Soul dancer from the pen of Shirlie Matthews, flip it over for yet another previously overlooked B-side that is currently dispersing talcum powder around the clubs. This copy is totally flawless!

Still A Part Of Me C/w Lover Boy

Absolute killer of a girl-vocal-group soul-dancer out of Memphis. Both sides drip with the undiluted quality you’ve come to expect from a Dan Greer project. No tweeting sugary girlies here guys - this record gives you two recordings from expressive ladies spilling emotion on every note. This is the ultra-rare STOCK copy in just sublime condition. Amazingly, this is a re-listing of a non-fulfilled win - amazing because personally I’d sell all vinyl I needed to be the owner of this 45.

Slipping Around

A cornerstone in the history of the Twisted Wheel and the evolution of Northern Soul. A fine clean copy, both labels and vinyl are flawless. NOTEthe twice bootlegged FAME repro’s have lousy sound quality - the original 1966 Fame release has perfect fidelity but is possibly 50 times commoner, than this coveted 1966 UK press, making it the highest prized capture of it’s variations. Check out that meaty full-on sound that Polydor in the 60s became renowned for.

Rosetta Hightower

Big Bird

rare UK 45! The former lead singer of The Orlons after leaving the group in 1968 for the shores of England, this was Rosetta’s first solo single arranged and produced by her future husband Ian Green, who selects two soul classics for her flex her revered tonsils on. Top side is an ordinary version of the much-recorded “I Wanna Go Back There Again” - hidden away on the flipside was a record that was to later emerge and more recently take hold as a dancefloor monster - as this Philly Phillie rips into Eddie Floyd’s song and delivers an overwhelming version. Remember no USA release and very elusive!

7 Dwarfs

Stop Girl

AT LAST!! a real-proper 100% genuine ORIGINAL. Incredibly difficult to secure, so often seen listed - but NOT the genuine article. If you need the exact details so you can dig out your much more than likely counterfeit. THEAUTHENTIC ORIGINAL was pressed in very thin flexible vinyl, 2 turn deadwax is 11.60mm wide matrix reads 1168 A F/W. note the figure 8 top circle loop is 4 times bigger than the bottom circle loop. Hold the 1168 @ 6 o’clock the F/W will sit @ 11 o’clock. Very hard to acquire, indeed.

On the other hand I think Ducky & Glowliters price wasn't over the top, was it?

i thought that was reasonable. i would have bid on it had i not already spent way too much money recently. i wouldn't want to pay higher than the max bid though.

No, I sold the (for someone) for £1000 a few years ago. I was talking about The Olympics and the High Keys really.
