Scotters Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 It as never come to this, that Tobi Legend is now for offers only? (unless it's a blue issue copy). Does seem to be more 45's moving from set sale to auction doesn't there. I personally prefer to see a price and decide there and then. thanks for that, i had a look earlier and no sign, praps he;s been hiding it Sorry...I should have been more clear, I remembered seeing it in the auction link on Pat's website when surfing to see what was about a few days ago: https://www..co.uk/auctions_view.asp?records=2 Good luck with it..maybe someone on SS will have one for sale too. Cheers, Steve
Pete S Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 I keep seeing this on Ebay, OG, does it mean original? If so, why?
Guest ashleysoul Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 (edited) I keep seeing this on Ebay, OG, does it mean original? If so, why? it stems from hip hop i think ...as in an "OG gangster"...which was the title of an Ice T LP but record collectors now use it as short hand for original nowt queer as folk...... Podge Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 Just looked at the site and is it me or are PB's prices on the high side ? Used him years ago and he was reasonable then ! £100 start bid for We the People ? Seen it on here for as low as £40 Frustrating to have to put an offer in, must know what he wants for it so why not put ''offers in the region of'' or something similar
Guest ashleysoul Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 auctions are auctions.....i missed out on a barry white - tracey on a manship auction, that eventually went for 540 ish (i think), and picked it up on the 'bay for 250...... what you do get on PB and JM is confirmed authenticity and condition.
Soulman Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 Sold my Blue Issue on here a few months ago for about £400 if my memory serves me right. It was visually rough though. I've got a demo which I would consider letting go but would suggest, as everyone else, make an offer and I will give it serious consideration. Steve
Pete S Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 confirmed authenticity and condition. There's a bit of a story about a George Blackwell sold at auction but I won't tell it

Agree with you on the authenticity, but to my mind, starting bids at high prices would surely put some off, would me for sure, we all have have own ideas on what records are worth or current going rates, point I was trying to make was that the starting point was high. Auctions are auctions as you say and you bid and if you are the highest bidder you win, simple as but personally if I wanted We the people I would not start my bidding at £100. I am not knocking PB only making an observation,
Guest ashleysoul Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 (edited) i know where you are coming from nick, but when you look at some of the prices that JM auctions go for (in particular) there clearly is a buyer for records at very high prices, and when you think that the bible for prices, the point of reference, is written by JM, then you can see how these pricves can be attained. for what its worth, id happiy pay more for some records if it meant i could gurantee authenticity and quality. basically im bored of getting records that are described as mint only to discover theyve been used to cut mint in a garden.
