I've never seen a Motown pressing that looked like that. But, Marvin also recorded for another company (Columbia). I can't tell the age of that (looks maybe like '70s). But maybe it could be from 1981 or '82, which could make it Columbia.

Yes, I've seen that font on Tamla in the early '70s. I wonder if those "Q-U-" letters stand for "Quality Control", and it was a special test pressing made up for The Quality Control Department to listen to, rather than having to play a tape?

I've got several Motown promos that look like this, all from around the same period of time - Rare Earth's 'What'd I Say' is another that immediately springs to mind, and that was pressed on at least two different colour vinyls that I'm aware of (red and blue) and possibly more It's too early in the morning to go upstairs and start pulling 45s for scanning, but if I think about it again later I'll put another example up.

They're not test pressings and the 'Q-U' in the matrix number has nothing at all to do with Qulaity Control, it's just part of Motown's producer code system.

...and so am I, Kenneth, and so am I...

Just to make myself totally clear, the label of the Rare Earth 45 to which I was referring looks identical in 'design' to the Marvin 45 in the eBay link. It was pressed in at least two colours of vinyl, one of which is red - which is all it had in common with more regular looking promo that's also pictured, as a scan, in this thread.

I'll check my RED Vinyl Copy against the light though I expect it will be the same.

Recently bought the White DEMO on SOUL too, so will check Deadwax once i've located both copies to compare.
