Premium Stuff Posted September 4, 2011 Posted September 4, 2011 (edited) There's been a bit of discussion in the past on here about the price of Clara Hardy - I Dream Of You (Tuna) with the big find and then speculation that supplies had apparently dried up. Copies were regularly going for down to around 100 quid. I remember seeing one go on here at £95. Interesting that a copy went on eBay this week (near mint) at £250 - from a seller that has had a few in the past Cheers Richard Edited September 4, 2011 by Premium Stuff
Dobber Posted September 5, 2011 Posted September 5, 2011 such is life with northern soul,i think the same happened with betty wilson-im yours, they turn up,they all get sold, then the value goes up again,to be honest even if there were loads of clara hardy, the quality of that record would always demand £300+ to me,there is a lot worse out there for a lot more money and more copies of aswell!
Chalky Posted September 5, 2011 Posted September 5, 2011 there's no demand for this record now is there? I wouldn't pay more than £75 if that. If Danny Moore can drop to £40 why not the same for this? Danny Moore p*sses all over this as well. More fool those that pay silly money for records that are found in quantity, especially if it is the same seller that had the other lot.
Premium Stuff Posted September 5, 2011 Author Posted September 5, 2011 Not the same seller that had the big load of these Chalky - but this guy did have a few of them before Cheers Richard

Supercorsa Posted September 5, 2011 Posted September 5, 2011 What is more interesting is that recently on both John Manships & Anglo American sites it's valued at £400! I paid about £90 for mine from the seller on Ebay (helpme2payforcollege or something like that), a couple of years back.
Premium Stuff Posted September 5, 2011 Author Posted September 5, 2011 (edited) Can't remember how many to be honest Chalky. But I think it was a handful (or a couple of handfuls at most - unless the seller was or has been very smart ) - rather than a shed load like the main guy. I know some people seem to forensically track the numbers of discs that appear after 'big finds'. I don't have the time or the patience for that. A nice record to have in a Northern/Detroit collection IMO - but no longer a big money item as you say. Can't go wrong for around 100 quid though IMO - which is what it seemed to bottom out at. boba Posted September 5, 2011 Posted September 5, 2011 I don't really see this as the same thing as Danny Moore. Slowly leaking some copies out on ebay is totally different than set saleing a bulk amount of copies on the northern scene. It never went as low as 75 pounds when it was on ebay every week, how is it worth 75 now that it's dried up? even if 100 copies of this were dumped on the scene, that is a relatively low amount compared to other titles and it is a quality title that i think people will want to keep.

It still appears for sale somewhere or other Bob, there's no way this is worth what it recently sold for nor £400 in the guides, not IMO anyway. There's no demand from the dance floor either form what I can see. The guy who had them had stacks of copies, for all we know he still might have. There was a lot of talk about him, maybe he has laid low for a while?

There was a lot of talk about him, maybe he has laid low for a while? I agree it's not worth 400 pounds. I just don't understand how you can say it's worth less than when it was selling all the time on ebay. Maybe in the UK you do see it everywhere for sale, just online I don't though. In the long run, 100-200 copies isn't that much for the population of soul collectors to absorb. I don't know how many came out but it sure doesn't seem like 1000. Other records like Betty Lloyd came up in quantity, went down, and then went back up. Time will tell I guess.
