On a thread I go to where I talk about poker, it's just a click to see my last posts, answers to my posts, etc it takes a few seconds.. I never have to trawl through to find anything. .

Pete S Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 pete,,its terrible...even i wouldnt play that one! Neither would I, but it's a great 60's pop record.
Pete S Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 (edited) Have you ever had gear? Or indeed been to a nighter? You offer a big opinion about many records that many people loved. It might never occur to you that you are insulting people with your pathetic remarks. There are thousands of people who loved and adored that record. You never went any where did you? I love coming home off holiday to uncalled for abuse. No I've never taken gear (because that's SO important to you), I've never been to a Northern Soul event or even bought a Northern record. I know nothing about it whatsoever. You've pulled this one before, 20 years ago you actually wrote to me when I was doing Beatin Rhythm magazine and had a rant about me slagging of The Larks 45. You need to get a life. Go back to writing your sad poems. Edited October 7, 2011 by Pete S
Mike Lofthouse Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 trouble is you just posting "get it fixed" in a thread does not tell me anything it does Mike - it tells you you should have one less member - if anybody told me to 'get it fixed' I'd kick 'em straight off!!
Guest gordon russell Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 (edited) UP AND OVER.....JAY TRAYNOR..............WHAT A PILE OF POP SH*TE WHO WOULD BUY THIS AT ANY PRICE P.S THE DEADBEATS ON STRATA AND THE Q POO!!! Edited October 7, 2011 by gordon russell
Pete S Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 UP AND OVER.....JAY TRAYNOR..............WHAT A PILE OF POP SH*TE WHO WOULD BUY THIS AT ANY PRICE P.S THE DEADBEATS ON STRATA AND THE Q POO!!! I would, I love it - but I like most records which sound like that - starts off quiet, builds up then hits you with a huge chorus. Agree with you on the Deadbeats and the Q though, second rate garage punk. 1
MrsWoodsrules Posted October 7, 2011 Author Posted October 7, 2011 I also love Jay Traynor, I can probably understand why some don't, but for me it's late Wigan/Searling & great memories from the main hall. I've had me monies worth out of this thread but I'll throw another cr@p record in. G.I Joe We Love You by the Fantastions, I actually got it on a Chicago Soul cd, I don't imagine it ever gets spins (tell me it doesn't please), but it's pure unadulterated junk, which is funny cos on the same cd is' In Other Words' by The Fantasions, which I like.
Guest Matt Male Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 That riles me almost as much as seeing someone using the phrase B-B-Q, it's LOVE thief not LOVER thief. Why do people call it that (well I do know, because of a Kent error) and why do people call NABAY the name NARBAY? Sorry Pete it always makes me think of The Cook, The Thief, His Wife, Her Lover. Never seen a Kent copy. It's still rubbish...

Er, In Other Words is by The Fascinators, a male group, GI Joe is by a female group
MrsWoodsrules Posted October 7, 2011 Author Posted October 7, 2011 Quick question why you are around Pete as I can't be arsed to start a thread to ask it & reckon you might know? Just watched a copy of Four Voices, You love is getting stronger, sell on a gold Voice label, is this a re-issue or variation of the green one?
MrsWoodsrules Posted October 7, 2011 Author Posted October 7, 2011 Er, In Other Words is by The Fascinators, a male group, GI Joe is by a female group Doh! er, I'l get me coat Pete. Theothertosspot Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 Village of tears - Ben Zine, what a waste of 3 minutes Does "Marchin - The Camp" qualify cause thankfully I ain't heard it played out for 30 years Used to like Ben Zine back in the day (even bought a copy) but as for The Camp, come to think of it, Happy Cats - Boots etc, Jan Davis - Raunchy 1970, what were thet all about?

hrtshpdbox Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 What about that hilarious Fife Piper thing, that gets no mentions? I mean, I assume it's supposed to be Northern, right? I know that whenever I find one I dutifully chuck it into whatever lot I'm flogging, laughing all the while.
Spacehopper Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 You couldn't make this shit up Are you seriously tone deaf? Or just mentally retarded? Anyone with any taste at all..even if they have never heard a soul record in their life can appreciate that record..it is unreally good..it gets played out for a reason..Completely wrong era of music for me and I still love it I bet you have a Lighthouse Family CD im entitled to my opinion as you are...didnt say it wasnt good musically ...said i didnt like it..two different things mate....i apprciate gary barlow can write a good pop song dont mean i wanna fuckin hear it...i hear just loving you at least every month,as im out every weekend and thats too much for me.....tone deaf ? nope ,played guitar ,bass and drums....mentally retarded..now youre just being ...well you....to be honest most of my plays, buys and fave dancers are uptempo 60s and rnb.... as for the lighthouse cd,it probably has more in common with just loving you than anything i own... sorry for the language 'mods' but being told im mentally retarded, tone deaf and know nuffin about music does tend to piss me off a bit! dean

I agree with you, Deadbeats aka Phantom Janitor has an awesome backing track just begging to be danced to,always liked The Q from the off as well-great C/U name 'James Lewis/Case Of Tyme-very similar to the Manifesto boys.Always loved Jay Traynor, very atmospheric in the confines of the casino.
Guest kid mohair Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 Joe Jama - My Life - HATE IT! Joey Delorenzo - Wake Up To The Sunshine Girl - LOVE IT!??? --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Main Change - Sunshine is her way - Nebula - Is my 'Guilty Pleasure'....Does anyone out there also admit to liking this Wigan 'Awfulness'? lol - I have had so much stick about that record over the years (Ok, I admit it - I even bought it!) ... I'm to embarrassed to state what I paid for it though lol. I used to do a Fanzine called 'Northern News' and we had a section called 'Some Things Are Better Left Unplayed' (Ketty Lester referance) - Great Thread / Great Fun....No doubt it'll soon turn nasty though... I absolutely HATE The Five Royals - Catch a Teardrop...The list could go on lol All the best, Len. catch a tear drop aint Northern though its more doo wop to my ears !!
Guest kid mohair Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 Phillip mitchell im so happy !!!! hate the bastad thing...
Douglas Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 Phillip mitchell im so happy !!!! hate the bastad thing... Not too keen myself, 'One On One' is far superior by him.
Goldsoul Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 1. Holly St James 2. Larry Trider 3. Billy Arnell. As for the Charades- You Better Believe It, it's awesome! The slight problem with the single was in the mastering by Pickwick. They stereo enhanced it and ruined the pressing.
Goldsoul Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 I adore 'moonlight music...' ! Easily one of my top sounds! And one of kev Roberts interestingly! Well. one mans gold is another mans copper. ....it's awful. Who told you I like it. In fact I hate all 6 or 7? versions.

Nobody's mentioned Lorraine feckin Silver :0( Marks out of ten ...I'd give her one ;0) And one that I've thankfully only ever had the misfortune to hear once in the last 30+ yrs.. Bells Delana ....did I actually see people dance to that at Wigan ???

Guest mattRSC Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 Interesting thread peeps. I'm gonna get slagged for this but I don't like that 'The Harvey Averne Dozen - Never Learned To Dance' Normally gets played a couple of times a night at the moment and fills the floor but don't like the lyrics "Never learned to dance, grooving with romance" What??? It comes across as a really cheesy song to me. Every bodies got certain records the majority like but you don't and you can't seem to understand it but there you go this is one of mine, don't shoot me i'm sorry (and a young un still learning)
doublecookin Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 was talking to a "polish" friend at work about music and I got on to northern soul, it was difficult to explain what it was all about and how it developed, so I agreed to do her a couple of cd`s covering northern, crossover and modern.....must say i`ve got some fantastic ideas of the tracks to use just by reading this thread....thanks 1
Little-stevie Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 Worst Northern track ever (fact) angers me just thinking about it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mxlq4Jq_uxo F£ck me, what was that,, No person could tell me they have heard that record played out, no way never.....
