The Majestics - I love her so much it hurts

I know there are hundreds of worse records but I just cannot abide that twirling, mexican style feel to it, don't know for the life of me why but it just grates on me, strange...

Just Say Goodbye.....Mickey Mouse on helium....Catch Me I'm Falling is great though

and I can't believe people have the front to play that Del Davis.Got a great unknown northern reggae record called Black and White by Greyhound..£500 to you..

Esther Phillips is a shocking singer.

And you are spot on about the Del Davis, probably the worst one mentioned yet.

Lou Pride - Comin' Home In The Morning, and those bloody trombones at the end!!!!!

Stunned.!! If this was discovered now it would be huge.Whereas Ken Barlow would get a kicking at any welfare for turning out "Turd window" in his set.If fact they'd start the bingo up sooner.Obviously recorded as a joke.A bad one.

Third Window always reminds of the sort of songs the large female pig on the Pinky & Perky Show used to cover in the early 60s !

Anyway for me I find Timo Yuro IWNBOFM a real yawn - and how people can trot out Nine Times by the Moments is beyond comprehension - it's exactly the reason we used to travel out of town at week-ends to avoid having to listen to it ...........

I'll get my coat

Dance Dance Dance Casualeers just reminds me of a bad night I had at the Casino and this was played what seemed like every twenty minutes!!!

indeed a tune that would send me out for fag anytime...

Love Bandit..especially when she utters the line...Barnabus Collins...you're a Love Bandit...makes me wanna scream and scream....

Posted (edited)

They're both as bad as each other (says the bloke who has an issue and a demo of barry benson  )

Issue of Barry for me and a yellow Joe Brown demo....Im running for cover as I have about 20 in that list. It's a British thing. That Bill Kenwright is one of the worst vocal performances I have ever heard...no wonder he got into Theatre.

Someone actually played Hang On by Vick Flick...this is a substandard Booker T sort of sound. Am I the only one that doesn't like L Allen Cant We Talk It Over.Reminds me of Arthur Mullard and Thora Hird on a duet or John Shuttleworth on the hammond.

Okay folks, we've all done it & it happened to me yesterday, iPad is on shuffle & a true shocker comes on.

For me it was yesterday I had the misfortune to listen to DEAN BARLOW THIRD WINDOW FROM THE RIGHT, this is a dire record & it kills me how it ever got plays.

Also another track that it utter drivel, CHARADES, YOU'D BETTER BELIVE IT, this is astoundingly bad. Full of U.S patriotic nonsense, starting with a daft bugle call, think this is worse than Dean Barlow & that's saying something.

Just a bit of fun, don't get offended if you like, or even worse actually dish out hard earned money for any of these.

Okay folks, we've all got our pet hates, what other dross kills you when it comes on the turntable?

agreed , Dean Barlow should be used for a ashtray .

You lot are having a joke yes?

Nearly every sound you quoted between you are Superb Northern.

A few I don't know, so can't help that.

Doesn't it all depend on who you were with, where you were, and the quality of the place, time, venue and gear you had?

I like Bobby Goldsborough TOO MANY PEOPLE(I so wanted a green demo of this) and TOO LATE and SHE CHASED ME.

I sort of aren't allowed to mention them now.

What about I'D RATHER GO TO JAIL Mitch Ryder, sure it can't equal BREAKOUT and YOU GET YOUR KICKS, but boy did we get our kicks off that record, once upon a time.

CAN'T GET ENOUGH OF YOU BABY, by the Toys was absolute class Northern in it's time (still is to me).

Wierdly, the absolutely loved, rare and adored, I AM NOTHING, AL WILLIAMS, does nothing for me, excepting it provides great memories.

DO WHAT YOUR SUPPOSED TO DO by THE 3 DEGREES isn't too far off DUETTES, EVERY BEAT OF MY HEART.

Especially on STATESIDE DEMO, which I have only ever seen one in my life that I HAD STOLEN AT THE CATS (maybe) but I know who stole it. Strangely I re-met him at Cleethorpes weekender. (Funnily enough the thief doesn't remember me.)

I never got much feeling, from SO IS THE SUN-WORLD COLUMN, but now, all these years later, I do, cos of the memories I guess.

I once remember someone saying the only good Modern soul record is a broken one. And , yeah, I aren't far off that way of thinking.

Perhaps tripping or stoned out of one's mind maybe. But no, not really.

I found JOEY DELORENZO late in life and adore it, (although the lyrics are mixed up because one minute he has blown her out, next minute he's going to help her find a brand new man.THAT'S WIERD, I agree, but in my opinion if that had been played in the year it was made (1973?) It would have packed any floor any where.

NINE TIMES OUT OF TEN is poor, sure, i gotta go along with that, but the collector inside me says PAGE ONE DEMO, wouldn't mind it).

I really can't stand Nolan's if I could only......can't even finish the title it's that bad when I hear it I can see Cliff Richards it reminds me of one of His seventy's thing's like Carrie dosen't live here any more or thing's along that line Derek Allen used to argue about this with me for years but it's crap sorry i know it get's a few dancing but it's cold sick in your porridge time regards Simon.

Sam Fletcher

Troy Dodds

Wade Flemmons (Other Place)

These 3 piles of dross have got no "northern soul" whatsoever in them. At very best should be left for the chill out stuff played at home on your at the end of a long weekend......at very best!!

WTF!! The Present and the Sweet are to me just the bollox when it comes to producing dance floor action and atmosphere producing moments that will live long in my memory, granted, not alot of soul in them but thats why i love Northern Soul.

Having said that it's each to their own and all that.

Wombat - = Kin' Awesome!!

Too many to mention and most probably have already. One which springs to mind and I don't know if it has been posted yet - Don Covay - It's Better To Have.

I can't stand it. I might be better disposed to it playing in the background at someone's house or in a bar, but whenever I've heard it out in the past, it sets my flipping teeth on edge.

Yeah, so much absolute shite played for the last 40 + years. Two that instantly come to mind that I can't abide --

Doug Banks - I Just Kept On Dancing ....... sounds like the theme tune to a cheap and shit spagetti western

Marv Johnson - Come On and Stop ........... 'kin dire

Oh, and The Rock - An Aspirin Would Go Crazy ... novelty record, if there had never been a Mel Williams "Can It Be Me" would have been thrown on the shit pile where it belongs.

Can't see where Lumley's "I'm standing" can be classed anywhere near a crap "Northern" record. Iconic record in it's day but there again it's all personal opinions innit. One person's shite, another person's classic.

Paris Sleepless Nights bloody dreadful. The bloke cant sing AND it sounds off key as well.

Bobby Kline Say something nice etc. Garbage

And that Goerge Lemons. Someone said earlier about rarity. This should be dumped. Utter utter crap.
