Also- "Moonlight Music In You" . Moonlight music and you is one of my faves...and judy street. Nowt queer as folk I guess!

Guest jerrio Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 I'm thinking of loads now but will narrow it down to one carstairs record amazing dancing band - deep blue train truly dreadful instrumental bobby bennett - you're ready now one of the worst cover versions known to man eddie foster - i never knew apart from the piano intro the rest is a waste of vinyl edwin starr - scotts on swingers oh dear mary saenz - would she do that for you as a girl group record, fine, as a northern record, hideous (see also bernadette catsro, gerri thomas) the high & the mighty - help me escape from cuba lyrics so bad you can barely believe what you're hearing kenny bernard - pity my feet singer sounds like he's attempting to pass a giant marrow raw soul - the gig and bill pursell - heartbeat instrumentals for the insane used to be fond of the high and mighty however i heard it for the first time in years just recently, and i have to agree with you, another one brothers grimm lookie, lookie. sounds like arnie swatsnegger

Guest giant Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 the snake sounds more like Tom Jones than Tom Jones what a waste of a record in a spot - something like ray agee - losing again - thats the real deal agree RAY AGEE rare and great dancer fills the floor all time
Simsy Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 Did this side ever get plays? The other side True Lovers did which amazingly is quite a nice tune. But you're right this is arse, worse then Twiggy Would have been a brave man (or woman stan) to have played that out! It's so unlike the plug side as to be by a different group. I just think they were trying to be all a bit Hermans Hermits with WYOWY, but they seem to have got it rather badly wrong.

Rather than a hard 'g' I always thought.
Kjw Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 Never liked any of these - Doug Banks, Jeanette Harper, Judy Street, Poppies, Dena Barnes, Marv Johnson, Kurt Harris, Dean Barlow, Dee Clark
Guest MrC Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 It's 'gee' as in 'gee whizz' isn't it Dean? Rather than a hard 'g' I always thought. I always thought it was a hard "G" - still, probably depends on where you live.... is Scone Sc-own or Sconn......

Guest Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 (edited) That riles me almost as much as seeing someone using the phrase B-B-Q, it's LOVE thief not LOVER thief. Why do people call it that (well I do know, because of a Kent error) and why do people call NABAY the name NARBAY? Or Nobby! Frankie Crocker....ton of shite more like! World Column....pleeazzze Neo....Smile.....fan my friggin custard.....should be called CRINGE and that feckin dj Genesis, what in the name of all thats holy is that all about? Guest Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 (edited) Dance Dance Dance Casualeers just reminds me of a bad night I had at the Casino and this was played what seemed like every twenty minutes!!! Yep, well remember going to Torch on one occasion, scored some sulphate, first time we'd seen it, couple of wraps, I'll swear they only had two records they played that night....Times a wasting and a tune I can hear in my head even now, but not enough to identify it, might be love you baby or self soul satisfaction. Bad records, having bought a copy of Wombat, off fleabay, but on spec, not having heard it but seen it mentioned on another site, I'm inclined to agree :- How did get classed as Northern?, I've relegated to back of record box, waste of greens as far as I'm concerned, anyone after a near mint copy PM me with a reasonable offer. Guest Ollie Lailey Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 When I've told people this they have looked at me like i'm mad or something but I really dislike Jackie Day - Naughty Boy Mickie Champion - What Good Am I I find them both really annoying. I do understand why people like them though.
Guest Beeks Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 another shout for just loving you /ruby andrews BORING!...always sends me to the bar and still played out WAY TOO F******* MUCH!! dean You couldn't make this shit up Are you seriously tone deaf? Or just mentally retarded? Anyone with any taste at all..even if they have never heard a soul record in their life can appreciate that record..it is unreally good..it gets played out for a reason..Completely wrong era of music for me and I still love it I bet you have a Lighthouse Family CD
Guest jb000 Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 Utter f**king shite You know where that bee gees disco you call soul came from? Three guesses , glad you agree with me on Betty O'Brein!! ,....."I love roast beef, but hate cows" !!

Guest Preems Posted September 17, 2011 Posted September 17, 2011 Esther Phillips is fucking fabulous, I had to sell my Betty O'Bryan something about it didn't work for me, must agree that trash talking the Ruby Andrews track is unfathomable... and Dena Barnes GTFO, that record is amazing!! If you think I'll take a notion to jump into the ocean.......
Chalky Posted September 17, 2011 Posted September 17, 2011 johnny navarro - i cried my life away Is Johnny Tommy's brother Andy (sorry couldn't resist) I love this but probably cause more or less grew up with it. This topic alone just goes to show how diverse we are in our tastes. I love Esther Philips too.
Guest Swish Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 or as i once announced it following a request (which by the way i knew was going to happen so had taken it on purpose) 'some things are better left unplayed' and no one noticed except the guy i was double decking with he he
Guest Swish Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 or as i once announced it following a request (which by the way i knew was going to happen so had taken it on purpose) 'some things are better left unplayed' and no one noticed except the guy i was double decking with he he You mean Ketty Lester, I guess. . CAN'T AGREE MORE ITS AS MUCH NORTHERN AS PATSY CLINE
Guest Swish Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 How could I forget that atrocity Have you ever had gear? Or indeed been to a nighter? You offer a big opinion about many records that many people loved. It might never occur to you that you are insulting people with your pathetic remarks. There are thousands of people who loved and adored that record. You never went any where did you?
Guest ScooterNik Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 I used to hate the intro to 'Moonlight, Music and You' so much that I took to skipping it when playing it. Then I realised that the rest of the track was pretty crap too. Chuck in that bloody Germs record that I can't remember the title of, and one that will get me strung up, 'Paris Blues'. I really detest that tune with a passion... But what do I know?
Guest Swish Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 That record by Wombat - I'm Gettin' On Life (Gemni) What on earth is that all about It has a really peculiar and awkward rhythm, plus a really weird hillbilly, come country & western kind of sound How anyone could accept this as a soul record, let alone a northern soul record beggars belief I might let someone off for having danced to it when just a teenager in an amphetamine-fuelled state. As for listening to it though - anyone who rates this as a soul or northern soul record 1) has cloth ears and 2) should have their head tested It's one of the worst middle-of-the-road novelty records of all time So endeth the sermon Cheers Richard No idea whom you are, but a great reply One of best dance tracks ever as you know by what you wrote. Can't blame you for taking the mickey out of this thread. I did it myself somewhere. Not sure where. .
