MrsWoodsrules Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 Okay folks, we've all done it & it happened to me yesterday, iPad is on shuffle & a true shocker comes on. For me it was yesterday I had the misfortune to listen to DEAN BARLOW THIRD WINDOW FROM THE RIGHT, this is a dire record & it kills me how it ever got plays. Also another track that it utter drivel, CHARADES, YOU'D BETTER BELIVE IT, this is astoundingly bad. Full of U.S patriotic nonsense, starting with a daft bugle call, think this is worse than Dean Barlow & that's saying something. Just a bit of fun, don't get offended if you like, or even worse actually dish out hard earned money for any of these. Okay folks, we've all got our pet hates, what other dross kills you when it comes on the turntable? 3
Guest miff Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 (edited) Major Lance - Aint no soul left in these old shoes - Okeh. I carnt stand it, sure it only got played cos of the title, the Majors voice is terrable on this track, and the lyrics are awfull, I know am a minority on this one as am sure its up there in a lot of folks top sounds, but for me it has nothing So many bettter tracks by the man then to play this derge, IMHO ducking for cover now Edited August 29, 2011 by miff
Ernie Andrews Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 Tim Tam & The Turn Ons - Wait minute -Palmer If I hear this I want to take a large brandy and smash my head into a jelly! Its just utter crap! Even The Snake sounds brilliant compared to this! 1
Ian Parker Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 I dislike the manufactured stuff: solid ground, hip teens, etc. dancers love em, but i cant get my head around em! not many i dont like, i think its more to do with a tune being overplayed ie: I walked away ....... gets right on my nerves
Rotherham Soul Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 Lou Pride - Comin' Home In The Morning, and those bloody trombones at the end!!!!! 3

Premium Stuff Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 (edited) That record by Wombat - I'm Gettin' On Life (Gemni) What on earth is that all about It has a really peculiar and awkward rhythm, plus a really weird hillbilly, come country & western kind of sound How anyone could accept this as a soul record, let alone a northern soul record beggars belief I might let someone off for having danced to it when just a teenager in an amphetamine-fuelled state. As for listening to it though - anyone who rates this as a soul or northern soul record 1) has cloth ears and 2) should have their head tested It's one of the worst middle-of-the-road novelty records of all time So endeth the sermon Cheers Richard Edited August 29, 2011 by Premium Stuff 2

Shinehead Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 Manifesto for me, loud tuneless and utter garbage , also another one which makes me cringe is Michael by the C.o.d.s.
The Yank Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 The one that really does me in the Frankie and the Classicals "What Can I Do"- her voice is the equivalent of nails on a chalkboard for me. Also- "Moonlight Music In You" . 1

Joey Delorenzo - Wake Up To The Sunshine Girl - LOVE IT!??? --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Main Change - Sunshine is her way - Nebula - Is my 'Guilty Pleasure'....Does anyone out there also admit to liking this Wigan 'Awfulness'? lol - I have had so much stick about that record over the years (Ok, I admit it - I even bought it!) ... I'm to embarrassed to state what I paid for it though lol. I used to do a Fanzine called 'Northern News' and we had a section called 'Some Things Are Better Left Unplayed' (Ketty Lester referance) - Great Thread / Great Fun....No doubt it'll soon turn nasty though... I absolutely HATE The Five Royals - Catch a Teardrop...The list could go on lol All the best, Len. Edited August 29, 2011 by LEN
Popular Post Pete S Posted August 29, 2011 Popular Post Posted August 29, 2011 Manifesto for me, loud tuneless and utter garbage , also another one which makes me cringe is Michael by the C.o.d.s. Blimey, some of my favourites not doing very well today, Manifesto is a very unusual but ultimately brilliant sound, what a dancer, and the COD's record is just magnificent. 5
Staceys Dad Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 ACE "BLOODY" SPRECTRUM......NO ITS NOT ACE ITS CRAP.............. 1
Pete S Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 Wigan 'Awfulness'? Don't blame Wigan for Stafford's mistakes! Sometimes it's not guilty.

Pete S Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 see youve got the hang of the multi quote thing Pete Not on purpose, it just did it!
Cunnie Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 Most of the above are pretty bad apart from Lou Pride & the Magnetics IMO. Tune that really gets my back up is the awful Love Don't Go Through No Changes In Me - Sister Sledge. Now't wrong with Sister Sledge as quite like them but just hate that bloody record. Strange thing is though whenever I hear it I find myself falling into it & singing away so if anyone ever see's me doing this again just give me a big slap cos I deserve it.
Shinehead Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 Blimey, some of my favourites not doing very well today, Manifesto is a very unusual but ultimately brilliant sound, what a dancer, and the COD's record is just magnificent. Different strokes and all that great to see that someone likes tracks that others find crap, Frankie And The Classicals was mentioned as a record which is hated but i love it to bits .

Shinehead Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 One record i've never liked is the classic Our Love Is In The Pocket either version , i know its a fave of many but it leaves me stone cold.
Winnie :-) Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 The Larue, never liked it never will. Third window is a stinker as already mentioned, don't like voodoo working either, as Matt said, each to their own, but I just can't warm to any of these 1
Len Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 Don't blame Wigan for Stafford's mistakes! Sometimes it's not guilty. Oops - Sorry about that, I was sure it was a Wigan sound as was told so and it sounds so 'Gregory's Girl' (If that makes sense!) All the best, Len.

Guest Matt Male Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 It's a time and a place thing as much as anything (for me at least). Muriel Day, Terrible Tom, The Present, all great memories of youth clubs associated with those records.
