Guest Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 I've been using these inner sleeves inside my paper/cardboard outer sleeves: 7 Inch Diskeeper™ Inner Sleeve, https://www.sleevetown.com/7-in-sleeves.shtml I haven't seen anyone else using them, and have heard some people say plastic will "cloud" a record. I'm assuming this newer material is better than the old stuff though and won't react? Looking to hold on to my records for a long, long time
Kris Holmes Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 don't panic, those new ones are good. if i could work the new site search system properly i'd direct you to previous threads on the topic.....

Kris, are you maybe thinking of a topic on Waxidermy? I panicked after reading that and have been trying to purge all poly lined sleeves from my collection. I know exactly what that hazing effect looks like too, it sucks and causes surface noise and there's nothing you can do

Guest DAWEEDSMOKA Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 Have read both threads and am still wondering if anyone can vouch for the bagsunlimited poly-lined inner sleeves. These are what I currently use.. no problems no far, but I've only used them for maybe 2 years. The plastic is of the thin very clear typed. Anyone know if this plastic is not good for records?

The bags unlimited site specifically says that polyethylene and polypropylene are suitable for long time storage but polyvinyl sleeve (which is also semi-rigid) offgasses and is not: https://www.bagsunlimited.com/c-86-poly-sleeves.aspx#PV I think the sleeves you are talking about are probably not PVC since the plastic is thinner and not stiff, but it also isn't clear on the site. https://www.bagsunlimited.com/p-4178-7-polylined-sleeve.aspx you could ask them. they're probably fine but personally i'm too paranoid to touch any poly inner sleeve.
