Guest TONY ROUNCE Posted June 23, 2006 Posted June 23, 2006 (edited) Still want this people! Come on, someone must have it tucked away gathering dust Cheers Steve Did anyone ever offer you one of these, Steve - 'cos I'm after it now, since I heard the other side on the mostly awful "Capitol City Soul" CD! If anyone's got one they can flog me, I'll sweeten the deal by throwing in a CDR of an unissued All Platinum version of the other side "Every Little Thing Will Be Fine", by Lezli Valentine. Hopefully I'll have better luck than Steve seems to have done! TONE Edited June 23, 2006 by TONY ROUNCE

The other side is good, but "Come back to me" was always the side for me.

Dave was champing at the bit to get it, but it was earmarked for Arthur. Jordi

Steve G Posted June 26, 2006 Posted June 26, 2006 .........a tactic that you used yourself recently for a SSS INT 'filler' did you not All good fun eh Cheers Steve Apart from the Young Ladies on Stang, I also rate Jakki on Vibration as a pretty damn fine number from this set of labels.
Guest Posted August 14, 2007 Posted August 14, 2007 So, there I was searching the internet last night trying to find out anything about George Wilson, and I come across this thread. Why was I looking for George Wilson? Well, I had this very record sitting in front of me at the time (along with other soul records). Are you still looking for this Steve or Tony? If so, you can email me through the forums.
Guest Posted August 17, 2007 Posted August 17, 2007 I received a number of inquiries over my record...I'm trying to figure out what is best. I'm considering an eBay auction, or a one time blind bid for each person here interested, highest bid gets the record. Any opinions? I didn't think the response would be so high.

Guest TONY ROUNCE Posted August 21, 2007 Posted August 21, 2007 Anyone? Steve's got it now and I'm otherwise occupied, trying to find a sum of money to give to the taxman. Why do these records never come up when I'm flush?
Steve G Posted August 21, 2007 Posted August 21, 2007 Steve's got it now and I'm otherwise occupied, trying to find a sum of money to give to the taxman. Why do these records never come up when I'm flush? Had it for years mate - it's one that Dean and myself used to enthuse about some years ago.
Steve Plumb Posted August 21, 2007 Author Posted August 21, 2007 Steve's got it now and I'm otherwise occupied, trying to find a sum of money to give to the taxman. Why do these records never come up when I'm flush? Yes I managed to prise it from a certain Mr Barnfather earlier in the year at the cost of a certain body part! I was gutted to see it on a list for £40 a month or so ago.................my one remaining testicle jumped back into my body after reading that ..............it had of course gone! Cheers Steve
Corbett80 Posted August 21, 2007 Posted August 21, 2007 Does anyone have a clip of the Young Ladies please?
Guest Posted August 25, 2007 Posted August 25, 2007 As one of you pointed out, it was rather rude of me to not respond to any messages. I was hoping that most of you who messaged me would agree to the eBay idea...but only one person ever said they'd go for that idea. For me and you, it would have meant a more secure transaction, what I was going for with that idea. I've been on eBay since 1997 with a rating made up of entirely positive and neutral comments. It would show that I'm on the up and up. Let's find this record a good home in the next week. I listened to it, and it does not skip. It has a few minor marks on the vinyl, and the label has a very slight ring on it, but does not go all the way around. The reverse side looks great. Hope that is a good description for you.
Guest Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 I've accepted an offer for my copy of this record. Thank you to all for your patience and your generous offers. I had no understanding of the value of this record, unlisted in any publication I could find. If I come across another copy (don't hold your breath!) I will be sure to let everyone know.
Harrogatesoul Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 Anyone with a soundclip at all they can post in ref-o-soul? Rich
Guest markus gora Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 Yes Sebastian looks like you are the only one. Fackin awesome ballad - "Come back to me" - they don't have to be fast to be good - this is a wonderful slowie....Steve this is more than wonderful...cheers: markus

Fackin awesome ballad - "Come back to me" - they don't have to be fast to be good - this is a wonderful slowie....Steve Oh, I know that they don't have to be fast, but they have to be good. Bobby Hill's "I Wanna Be With You" (which I for example is listening to right now) is wonderful, that George Wilson tune is however not. In my opinion ofcourse etc. etc. It's good that we all don't like the same tunes.
Corbett80 Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 This is an incredible record, one of the best things I've heard in ages!
Steve Plumb Posted August 29, 2007 Author Posted August 29, 2007 I like this a lot and had a go at upgrading my scratchy copy here but somebody must have made a better offer I think the singer sounds pretty good. Heard this at Yarmouth 07 after owning it a couple of years and it sounded great over a club system. Was playing pool on the sloping table at the time. Hi Dylan And just to bring the thread round full circle (after all, I did start it in Oct'05!), it would have been me playing it at Yarmouth 07, whilst you sloped on the pool table btw I personally love 'Come back to me' (particularly the last half of the record as it builds and builds) BUT it ain't a patch on his Black Circle 45 which has to be one of the best records EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! At a 20th of the price of the Stang 45 too!!!! Cheers Steve Cheers Steve
Dylan Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 I keep seeing that black circle one and wondering if it is any good. Purely based on the strength of the stang release. after that tip i think i'll grab myself a copy. cheers steve.

Much better than the Stang record, and I speak as a man who (now) owns both
Garethx Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 (edited) Is anyone out there familiar with the unreleased Georgie Wilson track "If I Loved You"? I'm pretty certain it's the same guy: a mid sixties recording this time and pretty worthwhile. I really like the Stang track but concur that it's not as good as his Black Circle 45, one of the great cheap discs. Edited August 29, 2007 by garethx

At a 20th of the price of the Stang 45 too!!!! Cheers Steve Cheers Steve The reality is they're both very good records, and ripe for different moods. So I am not going to get drawn on which one is better than the other. When I originally got the Stang side it was for the slower side "Come back to me". Dean Johnson exactly the same. Sometime later I played it to Sam and he preferred the B side and said that he couldn't use the slower side; anyway he then went and tracked down a copy.....anyway glad you (and Tony) both have it. We should start a best ballads on All Platinum labels thread
DtheD Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 We should start a best ballads on All Platinum labels thread ....great idea just last night picked up the Equations-you sweet darling (all Platinum PG 2311), definitely up there with George Wilson!! Dave Ripolles
Steve G Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 ....great idea just last night picked up the Equations-you sweet darling (all Platinum PG 2311), definitely up there with George Wilson!! Dave Ripolles Hi Dave Yes lovely one - got mine from a guy in Florida. Optimistics on Turbo is also pretty good ...and of course Bobby Patterson R.P.W.T and Chuck Jackson "I fell asleep" two stone cold killers from the last years of this label....there's a few to start us off Steve
Mike Lofthouse Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 Heartily endorse Mr. Plumb's recommendation of "Here Stands The Man Who Needs You". Steve Plumb Posted August 30, 2007 Author Posted August 30, 2007 I have a spare of "Here Stands The Man Who Needs You", if anyone interested PM me Mike There's always one isn't there (hee hee) My advice is to snap this up from young Lofty - I actually envy anyone getting to hear this for the first time!!!!! Steve ps Well done Mr Rounce on obtaining the Stang stunner - hope you've still got all your body parts

Is it stuck on a CD somewhere or a Jap LP from way back when? PLMK Steve
