2 hour 'Shades Of Soul' on t' radio

Recommended Posts

For the last 5 years or so I've done a 2 hour soul show on Bradford's community radio BCB 96.7FM every month. Playing some new releases, a bit of northern, 70s 80s, some garage all sorts really. About a week ago my girlfriend suggested said why didnt I do a 2 hour northern special. Mmm good idea why didnt I think of it? So last night I recorded the show to be broadcast on 96.7FM unfortunately it only has a reception area of about 10-15 miles. However it can be heard via the internet on www.bcb.yorks.com obviously you'll need realplayer and all that tackle. It'll be going out this saturday 21st @ 8-10pm so if you're stopping in and you remember try listen in. Hopefully I'll be at Sheridans Lifeline allnighter if I get all my floors sanded in time...If the response is good I might do a northern set every time.

derek

Played nearly 50 records on chunky black vinyl, alot of sixties midtempo and quite a few early 70s things. Name checked loads of friends as well hehehe. If I get chance I'll download 80 minutes of it onto CD.

allright Derek

sounds a good one

just mention that have added show to the "revamped event guide" ( which now has a radio/tv category) as well for you

as also a good chance to plug the new features of guide............

the front page event bit is more dynamic, which means that it counts down automatically as before but, it also now shows when less than 24 hrs to go the starting time and also...

once it hits the "start time" of event/show it shows that the actual show/event is "NOW ON"

idea being it works as a reminder for soul freaks like meself with memory like a teabag

so if reading this and involved or know of decent soul radio/tv

going ons , adding to guide could be a good thing for soul fans visiting

(plus as guide syndicated to other web sites, available thru mobile phone, emailed to lists, etc etc cant do show any harm)

Listening at the moment, my husband's just joined me from downstairs. You're playing the Butlers, it has him out on the floor everytime to it.

Great show. We're in London, wish there was one like this down here.

Please post your playlist.

And make it a regular event. How often is your show on?

did anyone manage to tape the show?

I recorded it (1hr 51m, missed the first 10 mintues) whilst listening over the net. Because it was over a dial-up connection, there's the odd drop-out, but otherwise the quality is good. I could burn it on to a couple of CDs for you, if you're in dire need.

One of the best things I've heard recently as there were a lot of stuff that was new to me. If you can put the programme up here that would be great. I noted down the tracks played from when I started listening.

major lance - Without a doubt

carl hall - What about you

bobby wilburn i'm a dreamer

johnny gilliam - Roomful of tears

larry laster

willie kendricks

butlers - Laugh laugh

little gi gi - I volunteer

mr caldwell - Love bandit

gene middleton - You can get it now

zz hill - Make me yours

clay hunt Since I lost you

magnificent 7 - Never will I make my baby cry

milt grayson - Your old standby

mellow fellows - My baby needs me

tommy soul - I'll be right here

charades - You're with me all the way

sharen clarke - A product of time

carl hall - Mean it baby

stormy - I won't stop to cry

skip jackson - I'm on to you

bobby taylor- There are roses somewhere

I'm afraid I seem to have missed a couple.

I hope it becomes a regular programme.
