Guest Posted October 31, 2005 Posted October 31, 2005 Album prices seem to be the last bastion where the "Evil" price guide has not ruined the chase for us all... Chase them while you can.......time is not on our side... Brett

Guest Posted October 31, 2005 Posted October 31, 2005 (edited) It's no "Bastion" at 250 sovs, owd lad Jamie you got yours for "Nowt"...lucky ********* But as regards to album sales unless you watch all the lists, then you can only have a true reflection of the current going rate for said albums, when the big guns' decide they wanna play "Eddie George" and set the rate for the subject matter, then i say eat em' up now.....because it'll go the same route as the 45' market. Agree in principle, although mine is probably worth £250, as it has a Moustache
Guest Jamie Posted October 31, 2005 Posted October 31, 2005 (edited) Agree in principle, although mine is probably worth £250, as it has a Moustache And as an aside, apart from the copy that Christian B has via Jordirip, how many 'known' copies of the 7" are there???? I wonder what the rate for one of those would be?? Edited October 31, 2005 by Jamie

Sebastian Posted November 1, 2005 Posted November 1, 2005 I don't believe there is a seven inch........... Yes, there is. Check this out: https://www.oslosoul.com/sounds_20.aspx
Jordirip Posted November 1, 2005 Posted November 1, 2005 Yes, there is. Check this out: https://www.oslosoul.com/sounds_20.aspx Yeah it's a real 45 for sure, not a dub plate. I had it and let it go. I had been DJ'ing with it for ages but no-one seemed interested in it, then as soon as I get rid, everyone wants it. :fool: Jordi
Guest Posted November 1, 2005 Posted November 1, 2005 Always remember Rich Searling playing this in the early 80's, wonder if he played it off the 7" ? or the LP.
Rich Buckley Posted November 1, 2005 Posted November 1, 2005 Always remember Rich Searling playing this in the early 80's, wonder if he played it off the 7" ? or the LP. Now then Brettski, Paul Capon had a copy of the 7" on his list 18mths/2 years ago approx.... Rich
Ged Parker Posted November 1, 2005 Posted November 1, 2005 Agree in principle, although mine is probably worth £250, as it has a Moustache I love this on your CD swap Rich though if the tache makes it worth £250 it shouldn't have been on the CD . Seriously though I think I'll email out my 5 faves of each CD once I've listened to them all. Just as feedback like. Back on topic not sure I'd pay £250 for any album but the 7 thats a different matter mind you not sure when I'd be able to play it apart from at home.

The mega rare moustache copy was mine.It was a one off played a Clifton Hall, Rebels and Cleethorpes. Mr Hartford waited until I was full of Balitka and then got me to agree to a swop for a, sob, 'classic oldie'. I hate him with a passion Edited November 1, 2005 by SteveM

Now then young Gedda, the Tony Fox LP is Jamie's bought of Captain Mainwaring (Steve Mannion) and was on the Soulsville 2nd Anniversary CD and not the CD swop!! The tache definitely makes this a world one off. Personally with that tach I think it's a dead ringer for Mick Smith....

Thats a good advert isn't it two of your CD's in my top six at the moment.

Russ Vickers Posted November 4, 2005 Posted November 4, 2005 I don't believe there is a seven inch........... Different mix too..alledgedly ??????????? Russ
Guest cC B Posted November 4, 2005 Posted November 4, 2005 Not sure if the actual mix is any different, but the mastering is slightly so, when played back-to-back with the LP. More bass, more punch etc. It's also 1 min shorter. Best, CB
Guest Posted November 4, 2005 Posted November 4, 2005 Thanks for the above info from Russ and Christian, now im aware i'd still take the LP over the 7" (ok i haven't heard the 7", but even the slightest nuance can make all the difference to the listener) Having had the track on cassette for around 20 + years you kind of get used to "That" version, be interesting to hear the single though. By the way the price will get hiked now just because half a dozen people on here showed a slight interest....oh must be £500 ....
Guest cC B Posted November 4, 2005 Posted November 4, 2005 This is what one of the arrangers of the song had to say about Tony Fox... "(...) Tony had a hard head and he actually financed his project with the money he made driving a cab in NYC. He had a great voice when we sat and rehearsed and wrote the songs. But in the studio he had definite pitch problems." Cheers, Christian B
